Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, 金银花) [5 qian], Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) [1 qian], Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参) [2 qian], and Scrophularia Root (Yuanshen, 玄参) [3 qian]. Decoct in water and take orally. After one dose, more than half of the symptoms will subside; after two doses, recovery is achieved, and a third dose is unnecessary. Draw a talisman and burn it into the medicinal decoction for miraculous efficacy. This method is applicable whenever evil influences interfere during medication.
Additionally, Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, 金银花) [5 qian], Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) [1 qian], Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参) [2 qian], and Scrophularia Root (Yuanshen, 玄参) [1 qian]. Decoct in water and take orally. (This formula is not recorded in *Fang Lun*).
Furthermore, in *Pediatrics*, it is recorded: "For carbuncles that have turned black due to severe deterioration, when people intend to abandon treatment, the patient revives as soon as the medicine is swallowed." This prescription is absent from both *Fang Lun* and *Shishi Milu*:
Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参) [3 qian], Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 陈皮) [1 qian], Cicada Slough (Chantui, 蝉蜕) [5 fen], Scrophularia Root (Yuanshen, 玄参) [2 qian], Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui, 当归) [2 qian], and Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjie, 荆芥) [1 qian]. Decoct in water and take orally.
This condition arises because the primordial Qi (Yuanqi, 元气) is deficient, preventing the fire toxin from dispersing. Therefore, Ginseng Root (Renshen, 人参) is used to tonify the primordial Qi (Yuanqi, 元气); Scrophularia Root (Yuanshen, 玄参) clears floating fire; Tangerine Peel (Chenpi, 陈皮) resolves phlegm and opens the stomach. Thus, these three herbs do not hinder each other but complement each other mutually. Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjie, 荆芥) aids in dispersing the pathogen and guides the fire back to its meridian; Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui, 当归) generates new blood, eliminates old stasis, and resolves blood stasis; Cicada Slough (Chantui, 蝉蜕) detoxifies and dispels wind. How can ordinary people know such profound methods? This formula should not be taken at the initial stage of the disease; it is only suitable for deteriorated conditions.
Master Qi also transmitted a formula for treating lingering toxic sores that fail to heal over years:
Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, 金银花) [1 liang], Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui, 当归) [1 liang], Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome (Baizhu, 白术) [1 liang], Astragalus Root (Huangqi, 黄芪) [2 liang], Coix Seed (Yiren, 薏苡仁) [3 liang], and Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) [2 liang].
During the period of taking oral medication, external washing with herbal decoction is also required: Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, 金银花) [1 liang], Raw Licorice Root (Sheng Gancao, 生甘草) [3 qian], and Raw Green Onion Stems (Sheng Cong, 生葱) [3 stalks]. Decoct in water to obtain two bowls of liquid.
Another formula for treating rashes was transmitted, which is miraculously effective for summer rashes:
Perilla Leaf (Zisuye, 紫苏叶) [1 qian], Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong, 麦冬) [2 qian], Platycodon Root (Jiegeng, 桔梗) [1 qian], Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) [1 qian], Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma, 升麻) [5 fen], Rehmannia Root (Shengdi, 生地黄) [2 qian], Scrophularia Root (Yuanshen, 玄参) [3 qian], and Artemisia Annua Herb (Qinghao, 青蒿) [3 qian]. Decoct in water and take orally.
Master Qi stated: Master Zhang’s formula treats rashes occurring in all four seasons, whereas my formula treats heat-induced rashes specific to summer. Remember these two formulas well; why worry about the difficulty of treating rash diseases?
Attached is Master Zhang’s formula for treating rashes in all four seasons:
Scrophularia Root (Yuanshen, 玄参) [3 qian], Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong, 麦冬) [2 qian], Perilla Leaf (Zisuye, 紫苏叶) [1 qian], Cimicifuga Rhizome (Shengma, 升麻) [8 fen], Trichosanthes Root (Tianhuafen, 天花粉) [1 qian], and Honeysuckle Flower (Jinyinhua, 金银花) [3 qian]. Decoct in water and take hot. Efficacy is invariably miraculous. In summer, add Artemisia Annua Herb (Qinghao, 青蒿) [3 qian]. For infants within their first few months of life, halve the dosage; for children over one year old, use the standard dosage.
Another formula for treating chickenpox was transmitted, which also addresses conditions characterized by heat signs accompanied by dampness/water accumulation:
Bupleurum Root (Chaihu, 柴胡) [1 qian], Poria Sclerotium (Fuling, 茯苓) [2 qian], Platycodon Root (Jiegeng, 桔梗) [1 qian], Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) [5 fen], Scutellaria Root (Huangqin, 黄芩) [5 fen], Bamboo Leaves (Zhuye, 竹叶) [10 leaves], and Juncus Effusus Stem (Dengxin, 灯心草) [a pinch]. Decoct in water and take orally.
If there is phlegm, add Trichosanthes Root (Tianhuafen, 天花粉) [3 fen]; if there is food stagnation, add Hawthorn Fruit (Shanzha, 山楂) [3 berries] and Barley Sprout (Maiya, 麦芽) [3 fen]; if there is excessive fire, add Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 黄连) [1 fen]; no other modifications are necessary. With this single formula...
