The term "Jiu Gan" (Chronic Parasitic Disease) refers to various parasitic conditions that persist for a long time and do not heal. Some may temporarily heal but then relapse; others may shift between two or three locations, responding to each other. Hence, it is called "Jiu Gan" (Chronic Parasitic Disease).
Formula of Banmao Wan (Cantharides Pill) for treating chronic Gan sores:
Banmao (Cantharis, one tael, stir-fried with glutinous rice until the rice turns yellow, remove head, wings, and feet), Fuyi Fen (Bat guano, four taels, slightly stir-fried), Zaojia Hua (Gleditsia sinensis flower, one tael, slightly stir-fried).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. First, prepare a decoction by taking half a qian of Gleditsia sinensis pod coated in lard and roasted until slightly yellow, ground into powder, and boiled in water. Take one pill on an empty stomach daily; those with strong constitutions may take two to three pills. The root of the disease will be expelled through urine.
