Palpitations and fright in children are caused by heat accumulation in the Heart, compounded by invasion of Wind pathogenic factors. When pathogenic factors contend with the Heart, it leads to frequent fright and restlessness. If fright persists, it results in palpitations and trembling.

**Formula for Treating Pediatric Heart Heat with Fright, Palpitations, and Restlessness: Fushen San (Poria and Dragon Bone Powder)**
Ingredients: Fushen (Fu Shen, Poria with Hostwood) 3 fen, Longchi (Dragon Bone) 0.5 liang, Hanshuishi (Calcitum) 1 liang, Chuan Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) 3 fen, Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) 1 liang, Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 1 liang, dehearted.
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely grind and sieve the above ingredients into a powder. Take 1 qian per dose, add one small cup of water, and decoct until half remains. Strain the dregs, add Ban Zhu Li (Bamboo Sap) 0.5 he, and boil for one or two more boils. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age and condition.

**Formula for Treating Pediatric Fright, Palpitations, and Emotional Instability: Renshen San (Ginseng Powder)**
Ingredients: Renshen (Ren Shen, Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) 0.5 liang, de-rhizome; Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 1 liang, dehearted and dried; Longgu (Fossilium Os seu Dentis) 1 liang; Fushen (Fu Shen, Poria with Hostwood) 3 fen; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 0.5 liang, honey-fried until slightly red and chopped.

Ingredients: Zhachan (Tettigidialis Periostracum) 0.5 liang, wings and feet removed, lightly fried; Fushen (Fu Shen, Poria with Hostwood) 0.5 liang; Longchi (Fossilium Os seu Dentis) 3 fen, finely ground; Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 0.5 liang, dehearted and dried; Renshen (Ren Shen, Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) 3 fen, soaked in decoction, skin and tip removed.
Preparation and Administration: Finely grind and sieve the above ingredients into a powder, mixing in the already ground drugs evenly. For each dose, mix half a qian with fresh well-water. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age.

**Formula for Calming the Spirit to Treat Pediatric High Fever, Fright, Palpitations, and Mental Restlessness: An Xin Shen Yuanzhi Jian (Decoction for Calming the Spirit with Polygala)**

Preparation and Administration: First grind Niuhuang (Bovaris Calculus) and Shexiang (Moschus) into powder. Remove Su (Butyrum) and Mi (Mel). Coarsely chop the remaining herbs. Add three sheng of water to a silver pot, decoct until half a sheng remains, then add thick malt sugar and cook until the desired consistency. Store in a porcelain container.

**Formula for Treating Pediatric Heart Heat with Frequent Fright, Worse at Night, Sensation of Spiritual Possession: Tie Fen Jian (Iron Powder Decoction)**
Ingredients: Tie Fen (Plumbum Carbonicum) 1 liang; Niuhuang (Bovaris Calculus) 1 fen, finely ground; Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) 3 fen; Su (Butyrum) 3 liang; Xijiao Xie (Rhinocerotis Cornu) shavings; Renshen (Ren Shen, Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), de-rhizome; Fushen (Fu Shen, Poria with Hostwood); Baibu (Stemonae Radix), de-root and nodes.
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely chop the above herbs. Add three sheng of water to a silver pot and decoct until half a sheng remains. Filter through new cotton cloth to remove dregs. Return the liquid to the silver pot, add the ground medicines, and stir until it resembles thick malt sugar. Store in a porcelain jar. Take approximately the size of two soybeans mixed with warm water per dose, three to four times daily. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age.

**Formula for Treating Pediatric Heart Heat with Frequent Fright: Jin Ni Jian (Gold Mud Decoction)**
Ingredients: Jinbo (Lamin Auri) 75 pieces; Shuiyin (Hydrargyrum) 1.5 liang; Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix) 1 liang, dehearted; Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) 3 fen; Gouteng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis) 3 fen; Longdan (Gentianae Radix) 3 fen; Zhachan (Tettigidialis Periostracum) 3 pieces, wings and feet removed; Su (Butyrum) 4 liang; Mi (Mel) 3 jin.
Preparation and Administration: Grind Shuiyin (Hydrargyrum) and Jinbo (Lamin Auri) together until they form a mud-like paste.
