External wind pathogens invade and contend with the blood vessels, entering the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian. This leads to mental confusion, speech impediment (stammering), a stiff tongue with dry mouth, red face, headache, slight fever, stiffness in the chest and back, excessive heat in the palms, an inability to turn over while lying down, palpitations with sweating, and a state of trance and unease.
