Treats pediatric acute and chronic convulsive disorders (Ji Man Jing Feng), characterized by the surging of phlegm-fluid (Xian Chao) triggering spasms, upward deviation of the eyeballs, traction of the mouth and eyes to one side, lockjaw (Ya Guan Jin Ji), rigidity of the back and spine, and loss of consciousness for consecutive days.
Nao Bing (Borneol, ground) Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis, ground) Ru Xiang (Olibanum, ground, each 1 qian) Tian Nan Xing (Arisaema Cum Bile, processed with bovine bile, 0.5 liang) Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, cleaned, slightly stir-fried, powdered) She Xiang (Moschus, ground, 1.5 qian)
The above ingredients are ground and pounded together until uniform. They are mixed with refined honey to form pills, sized like large *Euryale ferox* seeds (Ji Tou Zi). Each dose consists of one pill, dissolved and administered in a decoction of Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Herba) and Bo He (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba). The dosage should be adjusted according to the child's age and condition, without restriction on the time of administration.
Treats pediatric "Wu Gan" (Five Kindling Diseases). This occurs because children have light and soft bones and flesh, and delicate intestines and stomach. If breastfeeding and feeding are regulated, the Zang-Fu organs remain harmonious; however, irregular feeding habits, alternating between hunger and fullness, emotional instability, and the period from one hundred days to five years of age when solid food intake increases—leading to the consumption of unselected raw/cold foods and preference for sour substances—result in the formation of the Five Kindling Diseases.
First is Gan Gan (Liver Kindling Disease). Its manifestations include shaking the head and rubbing the eyes, a white membrane obscuring the pupils, generalized sweating, twitching of facial muscles with a bluish-yellow complexion, erect and scorched hair at the vertex, visible tendons and heat in the brain, abdominal accumulations, frequent dysentery, and if untreated for a long time, progression to severe emaciation.
Second is Xin Gan (Heart Kindling Disease). Its manifestations include high fever throughout the body, irregular vomiting and diarrhea, red cheeks with a yellowish face, irritability and fullness in the chest and diaphragm, dry nose and restless heart, sores in the mouth and tongue, bloody stools, occasional night sweats, or false fright.
Third is Pi Gan (Spleen Kindling Disease). Its manifestations include visible veins on the abdomen, panting and coarse breathing, poor appetite, crying and coughing with rebellious Qi, sallow complexion, protruding bones and scorched hair, emaciated form and weak strength, oppression and stuffiness in the chest and diaphragm, inability to digest food and water, dry mouth and nose, dissatisfaction, preference for darkness and aversion to light, disharmony of the intestines and stomach, and acidic-smelling diarrhea.
Fourth is Fei Gan (Lung Kindling Disease). Its manifestations include coughing with rebellious Qi, dry skin and hair, difficulty in the throat, rubbing the nose and biting nails, high fever with aversion to cold, sores in the mouth and nose, red and itchy lips, abdominal distension, frequent diarrhea after feeding, feces containing undigested rice grains, and millet-like rashes on the skin.
Fifth is Shen Gan (Kidney Kindling Disease). Its manifestations include muscle emaciation, sores on the gums, dryness and irritability, intense heat in the brain like fire, cold feet like ice, increased vomiting, reduced milk and food intake, frequent diarrhea and dysentery, laxity of the lower orifices, and pain in the genital area. All the above conditions are treated accordingly.
Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, cleaned of roots) Bai Shan Tou (White Eel Head, roasted until golden brown; if unavailable, replace with fried Bai Wu Yi - *Chelidonis Herba*) Cao Long Dan (Gentianae Radix, cleaned of rhizome base) Xiong Huang (Realgar, ground and washed) Li Gen (Meliae Radix) Tian Jiang Zi (Passiflorae Semen) Originally included Xia Ma Hui (Toad Ash) and Wo Niu (Helix Aspersa/Murex Snail, slightly stir-fried).
The above ingredients are made into a fine powder and thoroughly ground together. They are mixed with glutinous rice paste to form pills, sized like sesame seeds. For each year of age, administer one pill, without restriction on time, taken with warm rice gruel. Three doses per day are particularly effective. Another version includes 1 fen of slightly stir-fried Wo Niu.
