Acute convulsion (Ji Jing Feng) is suitable for treatment with cooling medicines, while chronic convulsion (Man Jing Feng) is suitable for treatment with warming medicines; this constitutes the general principle for treating both acute and chronic convulsions.
Take five or six tender leaves of *Hibiscus mutabilis* (Furong Hua) (an even number for males, an odd number for females), chop them finely, and fry three egg omelets. Apply the mixture warm to the infant's umbilicus (Shenque, CV8). Replace immediately when it cools down. The condition will be cured after three or four applications.
For newborns whose scrotum is excessively large, there is a fear of it developing into Mu Han (Wood Hernia, characterized by a hard, woody scrotal swelling). If the infant is older than one month, wait for noon on the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Day). Prepare a basin of hot water placed in the center of the main hall. Hold the infant and immerse their body in the water briefly. Then, place the infant across the middle of the threshold so that the moisture marks from the scrotum are imprinted on the threshold. Apply moxibustion (Ai Jiu) with three moxa cones (Zhuang) on the wet imprint on the threshold. The scrotum will gradually shrink back to normal size. (This method is highly effective.)
For children aged four or five who can call out but cannot speak:
Grind red beans (*Vigna angularis*, Chidou) into powder, mix with wine, and apply under the tongue. Speech ability will return after three applications.
Take five lamp wick ashes (Denghua), grind them into a paste, and apply to breast milk before feeding the infant.
Alternatively, write the characters "Zi" and "Wu" on the infant's umbilicus using cinnabar powder (Zhusha Mo).
When bathing children, wash them with water decocted from *Leonurus japonicus* (Yimucao).
Burn tofu skin until charred but retaining its medicinal properties, grind into powder, and apply mixed with sesame oil.
Burn walnuts until charred, grind into powder, and ingest. For accumulation caused by rice or flour, burn rice into ash, grind into powder, and take with boiled water.
Boil human milk until it forms a skin, or mix it into boiled water or thin porridge, and ingest.
Adults can also be treated (referring to similar conditions):
Mix equal parts of radish juice and honey, and ingest.
Apply one qian of borax (Pengsha) ground in water topically. For swelling and pain of the penis, drink a decoction of *Junci Medulla* (Dengcao).
Eat three sheets of semi-dried bean curd skin mixed with sesame oil. Alternatively, consume more water chestnuts (*Eleocharis dulcis*, Biqi) or walnuts.
Take two pieces of charcoal from a chestnut tree, grind into an extremely fine powder, mix with sugar to form small pills, and ingest three qian to expel parasites immediately.
This parasite is extremely toxic; even if burned to ash, it revives when thrown into water.
Consuming honey can neutralize its toxicity in water.
Infuse with juice ground from an iron axe. Alternatively, stir-fry sesame seeds, grind into powder, and take with boiled water. (See Emergency Section and Throat/Tongue Section.)
Eat boiled broad beans together with Chinese chives.
Another prescription: One salted duck egg and a bunch of Chinese chives (not cut), boil slightly and eat.
If the disease has reached the heart, it is incurable.
In an emergency, crush Chinese cabbage, extract the juice, and apply as a compress.
