For the treatment of various Wei syndromes (flaccidity syndromes), the therapeutic approach should focus on the Yangming Meridian and the Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel). The Yangming Meridian is located in the Stomach, which serves as the "Sea of the Five Zang and Six Fu Organs," primarily responsible for moistening the Zong Jin (Major Sinew) to ensure the flexibility of bones and the smoothness of joints. The Chong Mai is the "Sea of the Twelve Meridians," primarily responsible for permeating and irrigating the muscle valleys (Xi Gu). Together with the Yangming Meridian, it nourishes the Zong Jin, converges at the Qichong acupoint (ST30), connects with the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel), and links with the Du Mai (Governor Vessel). Therefore, when the Yangming Meridian is deficient, the Zong Jin becomes lax, and the Dai Mai fails to exert its restraining influence, resulting in flaccidity and inability to use the lower limbs. Treatment involves tonifying the Ying-Spring points and unblocking the Shu-Stream points of the respective meridians, regulating deficiency and excess, and harmonizing the reversal and smooth flow of Qi and Blood. When the sinews, vessels, bones, and flesh each receive their appropriate nourishment in due time, the disease will cease.
If the Kidney Meridian is severely deficient and exhausted, it leads to Gu Wei (Bone Flaccidity), characterized by difficulty in lifting the waist and legs, and increasing fatigue day by day.
[Prescription Composition] Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root, processed, skin and umbilicus removed), Chenxiang (Aquilaria Wood), Zhusha (Cinnabar, separately ground), Gouqizi (Goji Berry, branches and stems removed), Mudingxiang (Mother Clove), Muxiang (Aucklandia Root, not exposed to fire), Yangqishi (Leiolite), Roushoucong (Cistanche Stem), Shudihuang (Prepared Rehmannia Root), Shexiang (Musk), Tianxiong (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root, processed, skin and umbilicus removed; or Deer Antler may be used instead), Guanzi Gui (Cinnamon Bark, coarse bark removed), Liuhuang (Sulfur) [each of the above: 1 liang]; Nifen (Calomel); Baidingxiang (White Civet Musk) [a small amount].
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Use refined honey to form pills the size of a bullet. Take one pill per dose. Melt the pill using ginger juice over heat, then apply the liquid medicine to the "waist eyes" (lower back area) with the hand, rubbing until the medicine is fully absorbed. Use up to twenty pills in total; this yields great miraculous efficacy. For paralysis or wind-diseases affecting other parts of the body, add one piece of Zaojiao (Tamarisk Seed Pod), remove the tendons, pound it into a paste, soak it in ginger juice overnight, dry it on a tile, grind it into powder, and mix it into the aforementioned medicine. Apply according to the previous method.
Another Prescription: Treats Jin Wei (Sinew Flaccidity), characterized by the inability to grip firmly with both hands, weakness in walking with both legs, excessive hunger but reduced food intake. This condition is named Jin Wei. Its symptoms include sores in the mouth and tongue, sudden production of phlegm-saliva, involuntary salivation during sleep, restlessness and heat in the body, alternating sensations of increased cold, stiffness and tension in the neck, urine that is either red or white without regularity, and bowel movements that are alternately cold and hot without regulation.
