Radix Corydalis (Yanhusuo), Fructus Foeniculi (Xiaohui), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao), Rhizoma Zingiberis Preparatum (Ganjiang) (each 2 qian), Radix Coptidis (Huanglian), Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (Shichangpu), Rhizoma Cyperi (Xiangfu), Folium Perillae (Ziyeyu), Fructus Aurantii Immaturus (Zhishi), Cortex Aurantii (Zhiqiao) (each 3 qian), Resina Olibani (Ruxiang), Resina Myrrhae (Moyao) (each 1 qian), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) (6 fen). Divide into two doses. Add Ginger (3 slices), take on an empty stomach.
One hundred days postpartum, with a bluish complexion and edema, white lips, and rapid breathing. This is a syndrome of extreme deficiency. If there is sweating, the following prescription should be taken:
Herba Dianthi (Qumai), Pericarpium Arecae (Dafupi), Radix Angelicae Sinensis Caput (Danggui Tou), Radix Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong), Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae (Baizhu), Poria (Fuling), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao) (each 3 qian), Radix Ginseng (Renshen) (2 qian), Cortex Phellodendri (Huangbai), Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis (Houpo), Fructus Schisandrae (Wuweizi) (each 2 qian), Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Shudi), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) (each 1 qian). Divide into two doses. Add Juncus Effusus (Dengxin) (one cluster) and decoct for administration. If symptoms do not subside after taking the medicine, add Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Chuanwu) and Radix Aucklandiae (Muxiang) (each 5 fen). If diarrhea occurs, add Fructus Terminaliae Chebulae (Hezi Rou), Semen Myristicae (Doukou), and Cortex Papaveris (Suke) (each 2 qian).
Fetus death in utero is due to excessive heat in the pregnant woman that could not be treated. After six or seven days, the pathogen transmits to the zang-fu organs, and heat affects the fetus, causing it to die in the uterus and descend below the umbilicus. At this time, priority must be given to preserving the mother's life. Urgently administer Wujin San (Black Gold Powder) or Wujin Wan (Black Gold Pill), using Semen Plantaginis (Cheqianzi) (7 fen) decocted in wine for dissolution and ingestion. Once the fetal qi turns hot, it will be expelled.
Dystocia (difficult labor) occurs because the fetal qi is complete, and the fetus has consumed the mother's blood. In the previous one or two months, the fetal form was small while residual blood was abundant; over time, it coagulated into a mass, commonly called "Erzhen" (Child Pillow). During delivery, although the Erzhen breaks, there remains tissue wrapping the fetus, thus causing dystocia. Use Wujin Wan (Black Gold Pill), with Radix Carthami Tinctorii (Honghua), Cortex Aurantii (Zhiqiao), and Herba Leonuri (Yimucao) (each 3 fen), decocted in wine, ground, and taken. Why fear syndromes of transverse or breech presentation?
Retention of the placenta (Baoyi) is caused by cold invasion during delivery, where blood enters the placental sac. Due to cold, stagnation causes distension, preventing the expulsion of the placenta, leading to abdominal fullness and oppression, and loss of appetite for soups and liquids. Take Wujin Wan (Black Gold Pill), with Scallion Bulb (Congtou) (3 pieces) and Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui) (3 qian), decocted in wine for dissolution and ingestion. The placenta will then be expelled, and stasis blood cleared.
Postpartum syncope due to blood (Xueyun) varies in onset and cessation, with blurred vision. Since Qi and Blood govern the whole body, when they are unsettled, they flow back and attack the five zang organs, rushing to constrain the Liver, resulting in this syndrome. Commonly known as "Anfeng" (Dark Wind). Take Wujin San (Black Gold Powder) or Wujin Wan (Black Gold Pill), with Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao) and Flos Chrysanthemi Indici (Juhua) (each 3 fen), decocted in wine for dissolution.
Postpartum dry mouth and chest stifling sensation occur because the meridians are not yet clear and Stomach Qi is not yet regulated. Consuming cold food can cause these symptoms. This is because stasis blood invades the Pericardium collateral meridian, causing irritability and thirst, also referred to as severe chest and diaphragm obstruction. Take Wujin San (Black Gold Powder) or Wujin Wan (Black Gold Pill), dissolved in wine for ingestion.
Postpartum alternating chills and fever, resembling malaria. This is actually a deficiency-type malaria with chills and heat, where stasis blood has entered the Heart and Lungs, and pathogenic heat has entered the Spleen and Stomach, causing alternating chills/fever and thirst. This is not true malaria. Take Wujin San (Black Gold Powder) or Wujin Wan (Black Gold Pill) dissolved in wine.
Postpartum weakness and edema of the four limbs are caused by stasis blood wandering into the five zang organs, transferring to the limbs, stagnating, and transforming into edema. If it is water edema, it is due to Qi blockage causing scanty urination; if it is blood edema, it is due to Qi exhaustion causing cold limbs. To treat blood edema, take Wujin San (Black Gold Powder) and concurrently take Zhusha Wan (Cinnabar Pill), grinding Poria (Fuling) powder (3 qian) in wine for ingestion, which can reduce swelling. Additionally, treat with decocted herbal medicine.
