Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 3 qian), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus) (10 grains), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (1.5 qian), Fu Ling (Poria), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Ge Gen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) (each 0.4 qian). If sweating is excessive, add Fu Xiao Mai (Tritici Levis Fructus), Ma Huang Gen (Ephedrae Herbae Radix et Rhizoma), Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen) (each 1 qian). If thirst is severe, use Sheng Mai San (Generating the Pulse Powder) to replace tea.
Postpartum urinary incontinence is caused by extreme deficiency of Qi and Blood, failing to constrain the bladder. It is suitable to use Ba Zhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction), adding Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix). In severe cases, add Shu Fu Zi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix) (one slice). ([Wu's Note]: There have been cases where midwives inserted their hands inside to assist the infant, damaging the bladder, leading to lifelong leakage. How can one not be cautious?) In cases where improper delivery accidentally damages the bladder, use Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) and Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) as sovereign drugs, Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) as minister drugs, Tao Ren (Persicae Semen), Fu Ling (Poria), and Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) as assistant drugs. Decoct the medicine in a decoction made from pig or sheep bladders. One hundred doses are required for gradual recovery.
Huang Si Juan (Yellow Silk Fabric) (one chi, cut into pieces), Bai Mu Dan Gen Pi (Moutan Cortex) (powdered), Bai Ji (Bletillae Rhizoma) powder (each 1 qian). Decoct with water until the silk fabric rots like syrup. Take the medicine and lie quietly; do not make any sound. If sound is made, it will be ineffective.
Excessive sweating postpartum transforming into Jing Syndrome (Spasm Syndrome), with locked jaw, stiff and straight back, opisthotonos, and breathless condition resembling death. The following formula should be taken immediately.
Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Ma Huang Gen (Ephedrae Herbae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 1 qian), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (4 qian), Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (each 0.5 qian), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (2 qian), Fu Zi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (one slice), Ling Yang Jiao (Capricornu Saigae Tataricae), Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma) (each 0.8 qian).
Postpartum Wind-Stroke, without sweat, resembling Jing Syndrome (Spasm Syndrome).
Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (each 3 qian), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (each 0.5 qian), Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen) (1 qian).
Postpartum diarrhea is not considered a miscellaneous disease. It includes Shi Xie (Food Stagnation Diarrhea), Dong Xie (Sudden Watery Diarrhea), Ru Xie (Soft/Sticky Diarrhea), and Shi Xie (Dampness Diarrhea), each described as flowing down like pouring. Generally, it belongs to Qi Deficiency, Food Stagnation, and Dampness. Qi Deficiency requires tonification, Food Stagnation requires resolution, and Dampness requires drying. However, when lochia has not cleared, sudden tonification, resolution, or drying is difficult. One should first take Sheng Hua Tang (Transforming the Stasis Decoction) for two or three doses to transform old blood and generate new. Add Fu Ling (Poria) internally to promote urination. Wait until blood transforms and generates, then proceed to tonify Qi, resolve food stagnation, and dry dampness, thereby separating the water passages. This avoids errors of obstruction or "deficiency causing deficiency." If ten days have passed since childbirth, then discuss miscellaneous diseases, treating according to the patient's excess or deficiency. For example, if there is abdominal pain with clear watery stool, borborygmus, and inability to digest rice drink, treat as Cold Diarrhea. If stool is yellow or red, with anal pain, treat as Heat Diarrhea. If caused by overeating, damaging the Spleen, resulting in diarrhea with foul belching like rotten eggs, treat as Food Stagnation Diarrhea. If there is long-term Spleen Qi Deficiency with poor appetite, borborygmus and abdominal urgency after eating, only feeling relief after expelling all ingested food, treat as Deficiency-Cold Diarrhea. The treatment method is: cold requires warming, heat requires clearing, Spleen injury with food stagnation requires separating fluids, strengthening the Spleen, and combining resolution with tonification. This is called skilled regulation and treatment. For postpartum deficiency-type diarrhea with blurred vision, inability to recognize people, extreme weakness, and emaciation, the following formula must be used.
