Lu Jiao Shuang (Deer Horn Frost), Dang Gui Shen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Root End), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood), Long Gu (Fossilized Bones) [Note: Processing method not specified], E Jiao (Colla Corii Asini, stir-fried with Ariciae Pulvis [Clam Shell Powder]), Bai Zi Ren (Biota Seed, stir-fried), Xiang Fu (Cyperus Rhizome, wine-stir-fried), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, each 2 liang), Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Licorice Root, 5 qian), ground into fine powder. Form pills with vinegar paste, take on an empty stomach.
Furthermore, metrorrhagia may be due to deficiency and damage of the Qi of the Chong and Ren vessels, failing to constrain menstrual blood. It is appropriate to greatly tonify Qi and Blood, nourish the Spleen and Stomach, and add a small amount of herbs that settle and subdue Heart Fire, so that bleeding will stop naturally. If menstrual blood flows recklessly, or if there is hematemesis or hemoptysis with a bloody odor, use Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) and Liang Ge San (Cooling the Diaphragm Powder), added with fresh Chinese Leek Juice. However, one must first take one or two doses of Wu Ji San (Five Accumulations Powder), followed by Wu Ling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria), and various Qi-regulating formulas, to eliminate old pathogens and generate new blood; the disease will heal naturally. This is because metrorrhagia involves chaotic and reckless flow of the meridians; if urgent astringent formulas are used first, there is fear of accumulation and stagnation.
Women suffer from leukorrhea most frequently. Red leukorrhea belongs to Heat, indicating deficiency combined with Fire. White leukorrhea belongs to Dampness, indicating deficiency combined with Phlegm-Damp. The treatment principle generally focuses on tonifying the Spleen, combined with lifting methods. For those suffering from red leukorrhea, obese individuals tend to have Phlegm-Damp; for those with white leukorrhea, physicians should examine carefully here and not adhere rigidly to one approach while applying treatments indiscriminately.
For those with a thin physique and excessive Fire, due to deficiency combined with Heat, suffering from red leukorrhea, Si Wu Qin Lian Tang (Four Substances Scutellaria and Coptis Decoction) is suitable, added with Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex), taken concurrently with San Bu Wan (Three Tonification Pill). ([Wu's Note] Leukorrhea has five colors, which change according to the person's Cold or Heat constitution.)
For those with a fat physique and excessive Phlegm-Damp, due to deficiency combined with Dampness, suffering from white leukorrhea, Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) is suitable, added with Sheng Ma, Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), Cang Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), using Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) as a guide, taken concurrently with Cang Sha Dao Tan Wan (Cang Zhu and Cyperus Phlegm-Draining Pill).
Cang Zhu, Tiao Qin (Striped Scutellaria Root, each 1 liang), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex, each 5 fen), Bai Shao (White Peony Root), Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Chun Bai Pi (Toonae Cortex), Shan Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus, each 4 qian), ground into fine powder. For chronic leukorrhea that does not cease, the focus is on tonification. Shi Quan Da Bu Tang (Complete Great Tonification Decoction) is suitable, removing Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata), adding Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Wei Jiang (Roasted Ginger), and further taking large tonifying agents containing Ginseng and Atractylodes, as well as Gong Wan (Uterus Pill), to secure the lower origin and prevent collapse.
Lu Jiao Shuang, Fu Ling (Poria), Bai Shao (each 1 liang), Bai Zhi, Shan Yao (each 6 qian), Long Gu, Chi Shi Zhi (Red Halloysite, each 4 qian, crushed in Tong Bian [Child's Urine]), formed into pills with rice paste. Take on an empty stomach with Rice Decoction.
In summary: Women also suffer from two conditions called Bai Yin (White Seminal Discharge) and Bai Zhuo (White Turbid Discharge), which appear similar to leukorrhea but are fundamentally different.
