轻病,况产后有此,是谓重伤。恐不止,咸酸不节,而能致之多。因惊忧恚怒,脏气不平;

Discussion states: What is postpartum metrorrhagia? The answer is: Childbirth or prolonged bedrest damages the meridians. If labor is undertaken before recovery, it causes sudden violent bleeding that drips continuously. Alternatively, immoderate consumption of sour and salty foods damages Ying and Wei (nutritive and defensive qi), leading to weakness of Qi and Blood, which also transforms into metrorrhagia. If there is fullness and pain in the lower abdomen, the Liver Meridian is already damaged, making it difficult to treat. Urgently administer Gujing Wan (Solidify the Menses Pill) to stop the bleeding.
Aiye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium); Chishizhi (Halloysit Rubrum); Buguzhi (Psoraleae Fructus); Muzei (Equiseti Herba), each half liang; Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, one piece).
Grind into powder. Mix with aged rice water to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take twenty pills before meals with warm wine; rice water may also be used. Commentary: Metrorrhagia is not a mild disease, especially when occurring postpartum, which constitutes severe injury. Fear of unceasing bleeding often results from immoderate intake of salty and sour foods. It may also stem from fright, worry, or anger, causing imbalance in Zang-Fu Qi. Or, taking hemostatic drugs too early postpartum prevents the expulsion of lochia, leading to stagnation, distension, and hardening, which also forms metrorrhagia. Gujing Wan alone is unlikely to be effective. It is better to use a large dose of Xiong Tang (Angelica Decoction) added with Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), wait for stabilization, and then sequentially treat according to symptoms with other medicines for the best outcome.
