Radix Clematidis (Weilingxian), Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Fuzi, processed), Radix Platycodi (Kujie), Fructus Viticis Exaltatae (Manjingzi), Radix Saposhnikoviae (Fangfeng), Fructus Aurantii (Zhike, pulp removed, stir-fried with bran), Rhizoma Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui) (equal parts).
The above herbs are coarsely crushed. For each dose, take 4 qian. Add one *zhan* of water, half a *zhan* of Bamboo Juice (Zhuli), and three slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang). Decoct until reduced to 0.8 *zhan*. Take warm. Four times daily. Avoid tea.
Women suffering from Wind-Bi syndrome are afflicted by the combination of Wind, Cold, and Dampness pathogens causing obstruction. When Wind is predominant, it is termed Wind-Bi, characterized by pain throughout the skin and muscles. All Yang meridians originate from the hands and feet and traverse the body. When Wind-Cold pathogens invade the skin and muscles, Bi syndrome initially forms. If the Yang meridians are further injured, the pathogens stagnate in areas of deficiency and contend with Qi and Blood. This causes Qi and Blood circulation to become sluggish, leading to laxity of the joints and sinews. Consequently, Wind-Bi occurs, resulting in paralysis or inability to move the hands and feet.
This formula treats diseases such as stagnation of Qi and Blood, spasm and contracture of the hands and feet, Wind-Bi, and Qi-Bi.
Radix Dipsaci (Chuanxuduan), Cortex Eucommiae (Duzhong, bark removed, sliced, stir-fried with Ginger Juice), Radix Saposhnikoviae (Fangfeng), Ramulus Cinnamomi (Guixin), Herba Asari (Huayin Xixin), Radix Ginseng (Renshen), Poria (Baifuling), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Baishao), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) (each 1 liang), Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae (Qinjiao), Radix Rehmanniae Preparata (Shengdihuang), Rhizoma Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong), Radix Angelicae Pubescentis (Chuan Duohuo), Radix Astragali (Huangqi), Radix Cyathulae (Chuan Niuxi) (each 1 liang).
The above herbs are coarsely crushed into powder. For each dose, take 5 qian. Add two *zhan* of water, three slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), and one Jujubae Fructus (Zao). Decoct until reduced to one *zhan*. Strain and take hot. No specific timing; take when the abdomen is slightly empty. There was a case where a patient suffered from paralysis of the left arm. Although he later recovered, his fingers remained inconvenient and weak. Various medicines failed to produce results. After taking this medicine for only half a dose, he found relief.
Sanwuqi San is also excellent. (See *Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang*, not repeated here.)
Consulting ancient formulas for treating Stroke (Zhong Feng), formulas such as Xuming Tang, Paifeng Tang, and Yuibi Tang are all effective. However, *Qianjin Fang* frequently uses Ephedrae Herba (Mahuang), alleviating concerns about deficiency. Whenever Wind pathogen invades and there is no sweating, the pathogen cannot be vented. Therefore, this method is suitable for treating Stroke with absence of sweating. If Mahuang is used to treat patients with spontaneous sweating, it will cause further depletion and leakage of Body Fluids (Jinye), which would be detrimental. For Stroke with spontaneous sweating, Zhang Zhongjing prescribed Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction). However, for patients with persistent convulsions, deviation of the mouth and eyes, and generalized sweating, how can one address each symptom individually? In such cases, Duhuo Tang (Angelica Pubescens Decoction) and Xuming Zhusan (Xuming Granular Decoction) are indispensable as they restore Ying and Wei (Nutritive and Defensive Qi) and expel Wind pathogen.
