This condition manifests as a small nodule growing on the upper or lower eyelids, caused by phlegm and qi stagnation in the spleen and stomach. The upper eyelid belongs to the Spleen Meridian, while the lower eyelid belongs to the Stomach Meridian. If the formed nodule is red and ruptures spontaneously, it may heal without medication. However, if it remains hard and white without rupturing, over time it may enlarge like a cup or fist, forming a tumor. At the initial stage when the small nodule appears, apply fine moxa cones the size of millet grains to the affected area. Have the patient lie in bed with eyes closed, and perform moxibustion through garlic slices for three to four cones. Apply an external plaster externally. Additionally, boil two taels of *Zi Bei Tian Kui Zi* (including leaves) with half a pot of wine. Soak two or three seeds of *Zao Jiao Zi* (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit), heat them, grind them into fine powder, and apply this mixture to the wart while drinking the wine to facilitate spontaneous resolution.
Any phlegma nodule arising in the eyelids is formed by the stagnation of phlegm and fire. Externally, it feels swollen like a bean; internally within the eyelid, it is firm and palpable. Some cases may resolve spontaneously without treatment, while others may accumulate and form goiter-like swellings (*ying*), and in severe cases, even suppurate or bleed. Treatments vary accordingly. This arises from the dryness of Fire and Earth; one should not seek causes solely in emotional factors externally. If one can employ methods to rapidly intercept and treat the condition, peace and clarity can be restored almost instantly.
This condition involves a bean-sized nodule growing inside the outer skin of the eyelid, which is hard but painless. When Fire pathogen predominates over Phlegm, the color is red-purple, indicating that Phlegm has condensed due to Fire stagnation. This type occurs frequently in the upper eyelid and often resolves spontaneously. However, individuals who indulge excessively in spicy, hot-toxic foods, alcohol, and sexual excesses may, over time, develop serious conditions such as goiter and fistulas, requiring different treatments. If interception and treatment methods are employed at the onset, recovery can be achieved almost instantly. It is suitable to take:
Fangfeng Sanjie Tang (Wind-Dispersing Nodule-Resolving Decoction)
*Xuanshen* (Scrophulariae Radix, 1 qian), *Qianhu* (Peucedani Radix), *Chishao Yao* (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), *Huangqin* (Scutellariae Radix), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Tubei Mu (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Tianhuafen (Trichosanthis Radix) (each 8 fen).
Crush these ingredients into coarse powder. Add two zhong of clear water, decoct until eight fen remain, strain, and take warm after meals.
Qingwei Tang (Stomach-Clearing Decoction) [Indicated for redness and hardness of the eyelids, caused by accumulated heat in the Yangming Meridian, typically resulting from excessive alcohol consumption and a preference for spicy, roasted, or fried foods.]
Shanzhi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, stir-fried until black), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Suzi (Perillae Fructus) (each 6 fen), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, dosage unspecified), Chuan Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, stir-fried), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Guiwei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) (each 8 fen), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw, 3 fen).
Crush these ingredients into coarse powder. Add two zhong of clear water, decoct until one zhong remains, strain, and take warm.
