Women suffering from "Ru Yan" (Breast Rock/Cancer), initially have a lump like a Go stone, neither painful nor itchy. After five to seven years, it ulcerates. Initially, it is appropriate to take herbs that soothe Qi and invigorate Blood.
One must also maintain a contented and smooth emotional state for recovery. If it ulcerates, it takes the shape of a rocky cave or a lip-like growth protruding from the mouth, discharging red fluid and pus that soaks the chest and hypochondrium.
Qi attacks causing pain. Use "Wu Hui Shi Gao" (Five Ashes Plaster) to remove necrotic flesh and generate new tissue, gradually contracting the wound. This condition often arises from accumulated depression and anger, mostly affecting middle-aged women. Those not yet ulcerated can still be treated; those already ulcerated are ultimately incurable. It is suitable to take "Shi Liu Wei Liu Qi Yin".

A formula for treating female breast abscess and breast rock. At the initial stage, first administer one dose of Jingfang Baidu San to defeat the toxin. Then advance to drinking juice extracted from Dandelion (Pu Gong Ying) roots and leaves mixed with wine. Apply the dregs to the affected area for immediate effect. Baidu San refers to Renshen Baidu San. (Formula seen in Treatise on Cold Damage.) Remove Renshen, add Fangfeng, Jingjie, and Lianqiao.
A woman over thirty years old experiences pain or swelling in the breast after every fit of anger. This is caused by Liver Fire. Prescribed Xiao Chai Hu Tang combined with Si Wu Tang, adding Qingpi, Jiegeng, Zhike, and Xiangfu, resulting in a cure. She wished to eradicate the root cause, so she self-administered Liu Qi Yin, leading to morning chills and evening fevers, worsening the swelling and toxicity. This was due to blood damage. I prescribed Bazhen Tang for over thirty doses. Fortunately, her youth allowed for easy recovery of Yuan Qi, and she healed.
A woman had a lump in the breast the size of an egg, painful upon exertion, persisting for a long time without subsiding. Tuo Li medicines were ineffective. This is "Ru Lao" (Breast Labor/Chronic Breast Condition). It belongs to deficiency of Blood in the Liver Meridian. First administered Shen Xiao Gua Lou San for four doses, followed by garlic moxibustion. The swelling receded slightly. Then administered Bazhen Tang, doubling the dosage of Xiangfu, Xiakucao, and Pu Gongying. Continued intermittent use of the previous powder. Dissipated after more than a month. There is also a condition called "Ru Ju" (Breast Carbuncle), characterized by hard, numb, and stuffy swelling. Although it may break, it does not suppurate, and the swelling does not subside. One should urgently take this powder and use garlic moxibustion. These two conditions are injuries caused by the Seven Emotions and damage to Qi and Blood, also constituting a Labor condition. One must avoid anger, regulate diet, and be cautious in daily life; otherwise, it is incurable.
A woman suffered from a carbuncle. Her Qi and Blood were sufficient, but the wound did not close, and various methods failed. I prescribed Gua Lou Shen Xiao San. After four doses, there was slight improvement. Then administered Si Wu Tang and Fermented Soybean Cake moxibustion, resulting in a cure. Another woman with this condition, not yet ulcerated, took this prescription for three doses and it dissipated. Liangfu stated: If there is Breast Labor, taking this medicine can prevent the root cause. If the toxin has formed, it can transform pus into fluid; if the toxin has not formed, it disperses through urination and defecation.
