（缘目有疮而赤者是）
《巢氏病源》小儿缘目生疮候∶风邪客于睑 之间与血气相搏，挟热即生疮。浸渍缘目，赤而有汁，时瘥时
发。世云小儿初生之时，洗浴儿不净，便秽露津液浸渍眼睑睫 ，后遇风邪，发即目赤烂生疮，喜难瘥，瘥后
还发成疹，世人谓之胎赤。
《千金》治胎赤眼方。
上取槐木枝如马鞭大，长二尺齐头，油麻一匙置铜钵中，且使童子以木研之，至暝止。夜卧时洗目敷 ，日三良。
《仙人水鉴》孩子一月内忌赤眼，此为肝胎风方。
牙硝（一分） 雄黄（少许）
上二味研令细，点之立瘥。
《外台》∶《近效》疗眼睛不疼亦不痛，上下睑赤、风痒生疮、泪多者，宜点此药方。
蕤仁（四十九枚，去赤皮，研） 胡粉（如棋子许大，上火烧，看赤变如金色）
上二味各别研，取好真酥如杏核许大，都一处和研令匀，入龙脑香如大豆许大三粒，报研令消，宜油帛裹
或铜盒子盛之，勿泄气，伤风则不堪用。或有小儿胎赤，并宜用此方，且不疼痛，亦不损眼。大人久患赤痛
烂疮者，宜先取盐花或好白盐一方寸匕，醋浆水不用，纯酢中者一大升，煎盐三、五沸，则绵滤取汁。欲
夜卧，先以清水洗眼，次以盐汤洗之，拭令眼干，次以爪甲挑取麻子许多药，涂眼大小 ，任眼开合，须
臾少泪出，眼中凉冷状若人吹，不经三日内其赤便瘥，视物渐明。恐眼中忽有倒毛眯刺眼者，速令一人以镊
子摘去之，亦令人眼赤泪多，碜痛，若不除之，涂药终无益耳。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤，风毒所攻肿痛。升麻散方
川升麻 黄 （锉） 甘草（炙微赤，锉） 元参（各半两） 犀角（屑） 防风（去芦头） 蕤仁（汤浸，去皮。
各二分）
上件药捣，粗罗为散，每服一钱。以水一小盏，煎至五分，去滓。入竹沥半合，更煎一两沸。量儿大小分
减温服，日三、四服。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤、肿痛，上焦壅热。麦门冬散方
麦门冬（去心，焙） 犀角（屑） 川芒硝 甘草（炙微赤，锉） 防风（去芦头。各半两） 旋复花（一分）
上件药捣，粗罗为散。每服一钱，以水一小盏，煎至五分，去滓。量儿大小分减温服，日四、五服。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤，久不瘥。牛黄丸方
牛黄（细研） 蕤仁（汤浸，去皮） 决明子（各一分） 黄连（去须） 犀角（屑，各半两） 龙脑（一钱，细
研）
上件药捣罗为末，炼蜜和丸如麻子大。每服以温水下五丸，日三、四服。更随儿大小以意加减。
《圣惠》治小儿胎赤 烂黄连丸方
黄连（去须，一两） 龙胆 防风（各去芦头） 川大黄（锉，炒） 细辛（各半两）
上件药捣罗为末，炼蜜和丸如绿豆大。每服以温水下七丸，日三服。量儿大小加减服之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼经年胎赤，兼有翳膜。杏仁膏方
杏仁（一两，汤浸去皮尖，研如膏） 腻粉（一钱） 盐绿（细研） 黄连（末。各一分）
上件药同研令匀。以真酥调如膏，摊于铜碗内，以熟艾如鸡子大，掘小坑子，内烧艾咽出，便覆铜碗于上
熏之，勿令泄气，候烟尽为度。更重研令匀，每取少许，以绵裹，用人乳汁浸一宿。日三、四度点之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤，终年月深远者，宜点铜青散方
铜青 腻粉（各一钱） 龙脑（半钱） 干地龙（一条，为末）
上件药研令极细。每用半小豆许，点着目 ，日一两度用之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤龙脑煎方
龙脑（一钱） 盐绿（半两） 蕤仁（一分，汤浸，去皮）
上件药都研令细，以蜜调似面脂。每日三两上点之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎风赤烂，不以年月，发歇频频，泪出，视物涩痛不可忍。黄连煎方
黄连（一两，去须） 芦荟（一分） 龙脑（一钱，别研）
上件药先将黄连、芦荟捣、罗为末。以新绵裹，用水一大盏于银器中，以重汤煮，候药汁三分减二，即去
药绵入龙脑，以瓷瓶子内收，每日三两上点之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤及生疮，怕见风日方。
龙脑（半钱，细研） 蕤仁（一分，汤浸，去皮，研） 杏仁（一两，汤浸，去皮尖、双仁，研）
上件药滴少水，都细研如乳汁。每日三、四度点之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤痒痛方。
龙脑（半钱，细研） 桑叶（五两，烧作灰）
上件药，以水一升半，先煎桑叶灰取半升，绵滤去滓，后入龙脑，搅令匀。日三、四上少少点之。
《圣惠》治小儿胎赤眼，洗眼黄柏汤方。
黄柏（锉） 秦皮（各一两） 蕤仁（一分，汤浸，去皮）
上件药捣筛为散。每取五钱，以水一大盏，入枣五枚，煎一、二十沸，去滓，适寒温洗之。
《圣惠》治小儿胎赤眼及风赤眼，玉箸煎方。
上蛔虫二条，小儿口中吐出者为上，将于瓷盒子中盛，用纸裹，向湿地埋五十日后取出，其虫化为水，以
瓷瓶子盛。每日以铜箸点少许，着目 头，及夜卧时再点之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼胎赤及生疮方。
上用马牙硝半两细研，取腊月猪胆三枚，内硝入胆中浸之，阴干后取硝出。以少许龙脑同研，点之。
《圣惠》治小儿肝热冲眼，缘目生疮。黄连散方
黄连（半两，去须） 赤芍药 蕤仁（汤浸，去皮） 木通（锉） 决明子 栀子仁 黄芩 甘草（炙微赤、锉。
各一分）
上件药捣，粗罗为散。每服一钱，以水一小盏，入竹叶七片，煎至五分，去滓温服，日三、四服。量儿大
小以意加减。
《圣惠》治小儿赤眼疼痛，缘目生疮，难开涩痛，及有热泪。犀角散方

上件药捣，罗为末，炼蜜和丸如绿豆大。每服以温水下七丸，日三。三岁以上即服五丸。

上件药捣，细罗为散。用绵裹，内一青竹筒中，入地黄汁及蜜，以绢油罩盖，紧系筒口，于炊饭内蒸之。
候饭熟即泻出，以绵滤过。日三、四度，取少许涂之。
《圣惠》治小儿眼赤痛，及缘目生疮。黄连煎方
黄连（半两，去须） 童子蛔虫（五条，吐出者） 龙脑（半钱） 蜜（二两）
上件药除龙脑外，入在瓷瓶中。于炊饭中蒸，候饭熟为度。以绵滤去滓，取汁，入龙脑令匀。日三、四服
点之。
《圣惠》治小儿风热，致缘目生疮赤痛。龙脑煎方
龙脑（半钱） 川芒硝 黄丹（各一分） 腻粉（半分） 蜜（三两）
上件药同入竹筒，以重汤煮一日，以绵滤过，于瓷瓶内盛。每日三、四度点之。
《圣惠》治小儿热毒冲眼，缘目生疮，热疼不止。梨汁煎方。
右鹅梨（一枚，去皮，核） 黄连（末，二钱） 龙脑（一钱）
上先将梨烂研，绞取汁，绵裹黄连末，于梨汁内浸半日，入龙脑令匀。日三、四度点之。
《圣惠》治小儿缘目生疮肿痛方。
黄连（半两，去须） 杏仁（一分，汤浸，去皮尖，细研） 腻粉（半钱）
上件药以绵裹，冷水一小盏，浸一宿后，每日三、五上点之。
《圣惠》治小儿缘目 烂作疮方。
青钱（二十文） 青盐（一两）
上件药相和，先以湿纸数重包，又用泥裹候干，于猛火中烧令赤，放冷剥去泥纸后捣，细罗为散。每服一
绿豆许，以津调涂疮上。
《圣惠》又方
黄柏 黄连（去须） 栀子仁（各半两）
上件药细锉，以水一大碗，青盐一分，煎十余沸，以绵滤过，温温洗之，日三、两度用之。
《婴孺》治小儿眼赤烂， 痒痛，泪出可视风下，伤裂痛方。
黄连（二钱） 大青钱（七文） 矾石（灰，半分）
上以水三合，蜜三合，铜器内二斗米饭上蒸煎成，夹绢滤澄，点之。
张涣治眼睑赤烂二金散方
黄连（去须） 黄柏（各一钱）
上件药捣，罗为粗末，以奶汁浸一宿，焙干。每用少许，以新绵裹，用荆芥汤浸，放温热时时洗之。
《张氏家传》治小儿风赤及胎风眼，头尾有疮。百灵散药方。
青橘皮（一两，去瓤） 大芎（一分） 白牵牛 牛蒡子（各二两，微炒） 大黄（湿纸裹，火内炮） 粉草（各
半两）
上件药，在春合用青橘皮，在夏秋合用黄橘皮；大黄在春即生用，在夏秋如前法制。并捣罗为末，每服一
钱匕，以甜竹叶汤调下，食后临睡。
《张氏家传》小儿、孩儿赤眼，烂眼羞明方。
黄连（半两，末） 轻粉（一钱） 生鸡子壳（一个，末之，又研极细）
上再研令匀，安在大口瓶子内，用布盖，星月下露一宿。来日再研匀，用少许津调，敷眼唇上。
《庄氏家传》小儿眼唇赤烂方。
上用光粉少许，干擦之即平。
《吉氏家传》铜青散 治小儿斑疮雀目、烂眩泪多方。
铜青 五倍子（末。各抄半钱匕） 山栀子仁（末） 白缮土 秦皮（末。各抄一钱匕）
上都细匀为末，乳汁为丸如鸡头子。每用一丸，百沸汤半盏泡开，澄清温洗。
庄氏俞集穴灸法∶小儿二、三岁忽发两眼大小 皆赤，灸手大指、次指间后一寸五分陷中，各三壮。
（因为眼睛边缘有疮疡且发红，所以称为）
《诸病源候论》中关于小儿眼睑生疮的论述：风邪侵入眼睑之间，与体内的血气相互搏结，若夹杂热邪就会生疮。疮疡浸渍眼睑边缘，导致眼部发红并有分泌物，病情时好时坏，反复发作。世俗认为小儿刚出生时，洗澡不干净，污秽和津液浸渍眼睑睫毛，之后又遭遇风邪，发作时就会眼红、溃烂生疮，喜欢难以痊愈，痊愈后还会复发形成疹子，世人称之为胎赤。
《千金方》治疗胎赤眼的方剂。
以上取槐树枝条如马鞭粗细，长二尺齐整，油麻一匙放入铜钵中，让童男童女用木杵研磨，直到天黑停止。夜间睡觉前清洗眼睛并敷药，每天三次，效果良好。
《仙人水鉴》记载孩子一个月内忌讳出现赤眼症状，这是针对肝胎风的方剂。
牙硝（一分） 雄黄（少许）
将这两味药研磨成细粉，点入眼中即可立即痊愈。
《外台秘要》引用《近效方》：治疗眼睛既不红肿也不疼痛，上下眼睑发红、因风痒而生疮、流泪多的情况，适宜使用此药方。
蕤仁（四十九枚，去掉红色外皮，研磨） 胡粉（如棋子大小，在火上烧，看到变红呈现金色）
将这两味药分别研磨，取优质真酥如杏核大小，放在一起共同研磨均匀，加入龙脑香如大豆大小的三粒，继续研磨至溶解。应用油纸包裹或放入铜盒中保存，不要漏气，受风后就不可使用了。如果有小儿患有胎赤，都适宜使用此方，且不疼痛，也不会损伤眼睛。成年人长期患有赤痛溃烂疮疡的，适宜先取盐花或优质白盐一方寸匕，醋浆水不要用，纯醋一大升，煎煮盐三到五次沸腾，然后用绵布过滤取汁。想要夜间睡觉前，先用清水洗眼，再用盐水汤清洗，擦干使眼睛干燥，然后用指甲挑取芝麻大小的药，涂抹于眼睛大小处，任凭眼睛开合，一会儿会有少量眼泪流出，眼中感觉凉冷，就像有人对着吹气一样，不到三天内红色就会消退，视力逐渐清晰。如果担心眼中突然有倒睫刺眼，速令一人用镊子将其摘除，这也会导致眼红泪多、涩痛，如果不除去倒睫，涂药终究没有益处。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤，风毒攻冲导致的肿痛。升麻散方
川升麻 黄芩（锉碎） 甘草（炙至微红，锉碎） 玄参（各半两） 犀角（锉屑） 防风（去芦头） 蕤仁（热水浸泡，去皮。各二分）
将上述药物捣碎，粗筛为散剂。每次服用一钱。用水一小盏，煎至五分，去渣。加入竹沥半合，再煎一两沸。根据孩子的大小分次减量，温服，每天三到四次。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤、肿痛，上焦壅塞热邪。麦门冬散方
麦门冬（去心，焙干） 犀角（锉屑） 川芒硝 甘草（炙至微红，锉碎） 防风（去芦头。各半两） 旋覆花（一分）
将上述药物捣碎，粗筛为散剂。每次服用一钱，用水一小盏，煎至五分，去渣。根据孩子的大小分次减量，温服，每天四五次。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤，久治不愈。牛黄丸方
牛黄（细研） 蕤仁（热水浸泡，去皮） 决明子（各一分） 黄连（去须） 犀角（锉屑，各半两） 龙脑（一钱，细研）
将上述药物捣碎过筛为末，炼蜜调和制成如麻子大的丸剂。每次用温水送服五丸，每天三到四次。更可根据孩子的大小酌情加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿胎赤溃烂黄连丸方
黄连（去须，一两） 龙胆草 防风（各去芦头） 川大黄（锉碎，炒制） 细辛（各半两）
将上述药物捣碎过筛为末，炼蜜调和制成如绿豆大的丸剂。每次用温水送服七丸，每天三次。根据孩子的大小加减服用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼经年胎赤，兼有翳膜。杏仁膏方
杏仁（一两，热水浸泡去皮尖，研磨如膏状） 腻粉（一钱） 盐绿（细研） 黄连（末。各一分）
将上述药物共同研磨均匀。用真酥调成膏状，摊在铜碗内，取熟艾如鸡蛋大小，挖一个小坑，点燃艾草熏蒸，便覆盖铜碗在上面熏，不要让气体泄漏，等到烟尽为止。再次研磨均匀，每次取少许，用绵布包裹，用人乳汁浸泡一夜。每天三四次点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤，病程终年月深远的，适宜点铜青散方
铜青 腻粉（各一钱） 龙脑（半钱） 干地龙（一条，研末）
将上述药物研磨至极细。每次用半颗小豆大小的量，点入眼中，每天一到两次使用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤龙脑煎方
龙脑（一钱） 盐绿（半两） 蕤仁（一分，热水浸泡，去皮）
将上述药物全部研磨细，用蜂蜜调得像面脂一样。每天点上三两次。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎风赤烂，不论病程长短，发作频繁，流泪，视物涩痛难忍。黄连煎方
黄连（一两，去须） 芦荟（一分） 龙脑（一钱，另研）
将上述药物先将黄连、芦荟捣碎、过筛为末。用新绵包裹，用水一大盏在银器中，隔水加热煮，等到药汁减少三分之二，即取出药绵，加入龙脑，装入瓷瓶内收存，每天点上三两次。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤及生疮，怕见风日方。
龙脑（半钱，细研） 蕤仁（一分，热水浸泡，去皮，研） 杏仁（一两，热水浸泡，去皮尖、双仁，研）
将上述药物滴少许水，全部细研如乳汁状。每天三四次点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤痒痛方。
龙脑（半钱，细研） 桑叶（五两，烧成灰）
将上述药物，用水一升半，先煎桑叶灰取半升，用绵布过滤去渣，后加入龙脑，搅匀。每天三四次少量点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿胎赤眼，洗眼黄柏汤方。
黄柏（锉碎） 秦皮（各一两） 蕤仁（一分，热水浸泡，去皮）
将上述药物捣碎筛为散剂。每次取五钱，用水一大盏，加入枣五枚，煎煮一二十沸，去渣，温度适宜时清洗眼睛。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿胎赤眼及风赤眼，玉箸煎方。
取蛔虫两条，从小儿口中吐出的为上品，放在瓷盒子中盛装，用纸包裹，向湿地下埋五十日后取出，其虫化为水，用瓷瓶子盛装。每天用铜箸点少许，点在眼角，以及夜间睡觉时再点一次。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼胎赤及生疮方。
上面用马牙硝半两细研，取腊月猪胆三枚，将硝放入胆中浸泡，阴干后取出硝。加少许龙脑共同研磨，点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿肝热冲眼，眼睑生疮。黄连散方

犀角（锉屑） 羚羊角（锉屑） 防风（去芦头） 玄参 黄芩 黄芩（锉碎。各一分） 柴胡（去苗） 川大黄（锉碎，微炒） 马牙硝（各半两）
将上述药物捣碎，粗筛为散剂，每次服用一钱。用水一小盏，煎至五分，去渣温服。每天三到四次。根据孩子大小增减服用。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼睑生赤疮及生翳。细辛丸方
细辛 黄连（去须） 芦荟 桑根白皮（锉碎） 甜葶苈（隔纸炒至紫色。各一分） 蕤仁（半两，热水浸泡，去皮） 龙脑（半钱，细研）
将上述药物捣碎，过筛为末，炼蜜调和制成如绿豆大的丸剂。每次用温水送服七丸，每天三次。三岁以上则服用五丸。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼睑溃烂作疮。黄连丸方
黄连（半两，去须） 川大黄（锉碎，微炒） 龙胆草 防风（各去芦头） 细辛 玄参（各一分）
将上述药物捣碎，过筛为末，炼蜜调和制成如绿豆大的丸剂。每次用温水送服五丸，每天三次。根据孩子大小酌情加减。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼睑溃烂作疮，肿痛。白矾煎方
白矾（一分，烧成灰） 黄连（半两，去须） 青钱（十文） 防风（去芦头） 朴硝（各三分） 地黄汁（一合） 白蜜（三合）
将上述药物捣碎，细筛为散剂。用绵布包裹，放入一节青竹筒中，加入地黄汁及蜜，用绢油罩盖，紧系筒口，在蒸饭的锅内蒸。等饭熟后倒出，用绵布过滤。每天三四次，取少许涂抹。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼赤痛，及眼睑生疮。黄连煎方
黄连（半两，去须） 童子蛔虫（五条，吐出者） 龙脑（半钱） 蜜（二两）
将上述药物除龙脑外，放入瓷瓶中。在蒸饭的锅中蒸，等饭熟为止。用绵布过滤去渣，取汁，加入龙脑搅匀。每天三四次点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿风热，导致眼睑生疮赤痛。龙脑煎方
龙脑（半钱） 川芒硝 黄丹（各一分） 腻粉（半分） 蜜（三两）
将上述药物一同放入竹筒，隔水加热煮一天，用绵布过滤，装入瓷瓶内盛放。每天三四次点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿热毒冲眼，眼睑生疮，热疼不止。梨汁煎方。
右鹅梨（一枚，去皮，去核） 黄连（末，二钱） 龙脑（一钱）
先将梨捣烂研磨，绞取汁，用绵布包裹黄连末，在梨汁内浸泡半天，加入龙脑搅匀。每天三四次点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼睑生疮肿痛方。
黄连（半两，去须） 杏仁（一分，热水浸泡，去皮尖，细研） 腻粉（半钱）
将上述药物用绵布包裹，冷水一小盏，浸泡一夜后，每天三五次点眼。
《太平圣惠方》治疗小儿眼睑溃烂作疮方。
青钱（二十文） 青盐（一两）
将上述药物混合，先用湿纸多层包裹，又用泥包裹待干，在猛火中烧至通红，放冷剥去泥纸后捣碎，细筛为散剂。每次取一绿豆大小的量，用唾液调和涂抹在疮上。
《太平圣惠方》又方
黄柏 黄连（去须） 栀子仁（各半两）
将上述药物细锉，用水一大碗，青盐一分，煎煮十余沸，用绵布过滤，温热时清洗，每天两到三次使用。
《婴孺方》治疗小儿眼赤烂，瘙痒疼痛，流泪可直视风下，伤裂痛方。
黄连（二钱） 大青钱（七文） 矾石（灰，半分）
以上用水三合，蜜三合，在铜器内置于二斗米饭上蒸煎而成，夹绢过滤澄清，点眼。
张涣治疗眼睑赤烂二金散方
黄连（去须） 黄柏（各一钱）
将上述药物捣碎，过筛为粗末，用奶汁浸泡一夜，焙干。每次用少许，用新绵包裹，用荆芥汤浸泡，放温热时时清洗。
《张氏家传》治疗小儿风赤及胎风眼，头尾有疮。百灵散药方。
青橘皮（一两，去瓤） 大芎（一分） 白牵牛 牛蒡子（各二两，微炒） 大黄（湿纸裹，火内炮制） 粉草（各半两）
将上述药物，在春季合用时用青橘皮，在夏秋合用时用黄橘皮；大黄在春季即生用，在夏秋按前述方法炮制。并捣碎过筛为末，每次服用一钱匕，用甜竹叶汤调下，饭后临睡时服用。
《张氏家传》小儿、孩儿赤眼，烂眼羞明方。
黄连（半两，末） 轻粉（一钱） 生鸡子壳（一个，研末，再研极细）
再次研磨均匀，安放在大口瓶子内，用布盖住，在星月下露置一夜。第二天再研磨均匀，用少许唾液调和，敷在眼唇上。
《吉氏家传》铜青散 治疗小儿斑疮雀目、烂眩泪多方。

If accompanied by heat, sores will develop. The sores infiltrate the eye margins, causing redness and discharge, with the condition remitting and recurring intermittently. Folk belief holds that when infants are first born, if bathing is not thorough, filth and body fluids infiltrate the eyelids and eyelashes. Subsequently, encountering wind-pathogens triggers an outbreak characterized by red, ulcerated, and sore-affected eyes. These are prone to being difficult to heal; after healing, they may recur forming rashes. People call this "Fetal Redness" (Tai Chi).
*Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) treats Fetal Redness Eyes.
Take locust tree branches as thick as a horse whip, two chi long and even at the top. Place one spoonful of sesame oil in a copper mortar. Have a young boy grind them with a wooden pestil until dusk. Wash the eyes and apply the medicine before sleeping at night. Do this three times daily for good results.
*Xian Ren Shui Jian* (Immortal's Water Mirror) states that within one month of birth, children should be wary of red eyes; this is a formula for Liver Fetal Wind.

Grind each ingredient separately. Take real butter the size of an apricot kernel and mix thoroughly with the powders. Add three grains of Long Nao Xiang (Borneol, 龙脑香) the size of a soybean and continue grinding until dissolved. Store wrapped in oiled silk or in a copper box to prevent leakage of aroma; once exposed to wind, it becomes unusable. This formula is also suitable for children with fetal redness, causing no pain and damaging no eyes. Adults suffering from chronic red, painful, and ulcerated sores should first take one cubic inch of salt flowers or fine white salt. Do not use vinegar-based water; use one sheng of pure vinegar. Boil the salt three to five times. Filter the juice through silk. Before bed, wash the eyes with clear water, then with the salt solution, and dry them. Pick up a quantity of medicine the size of a hemp seed with a fingernail and apply it to the eyes, allowing them to open and close freely. Within moments, a few tears will flow, and the eyes will feel cool, as if someone were blowing on them. The redness will subside within three days, and vision will gradually clarify. If inverted eyelashes suddenly prick the eye, have someone quickly pluck them out with tweezers. Inverted lashes also cause redness, tearing, and grittiness/pain; if not removed, applying medicine is ultimately useless.
