If a child suffers from a fall or cut by knives/axes, wind pathogen may secretly invade, causing swelling at the injury site; this is called Poshang Feng (Broken-Wind Disease/Tetanus). It must be treated promptly, otherwise spasms will develop. Internally administer Shufeng Huoxue San (Wind-Dispersing and Blood-Activating Powder); externally apply Zijin Ding (Purple Gold锭) to the affected area.

In treating childhood exanthems (rashes), one must distinguish between yin and yang patterns. If the swelling manifests on the exterior, it belongs to Shaoyang Xianghuo (Ministerial Fire of Shaoyang), referred to as [missing character, contextually 'Sha' or similar]. The symptoms appear on the face, back, or limbs, are extremely dense, and resemble brocade patterns. Redness indicates Stomach Heat; purple-black color indicates Stomach Rot (severe gastric tissue damage). Use Xiao Qingdai Yin (Qingdai-Removing Decoction).
If red spots emerge within the skin but do not erupt outward, it belongs to Shaoyin Junhuo (Ruler's Fire of Shaoyin), referred to as Zhen (Papular Rash). The symptoms appear on the chest, abdomen, hands, and feet; if sparse and few, this is caused by rootless and uncontrolled fire gathering in the chest, steaming upward into the Lung, and hiding under the skin to form small rashes. Their appearance resembles mosquito bites or flea marks, not brocade patterns. Use Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction).
If rash is accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea, do not hastily stop them, as the toxic vapors are exiting through the upper and lower orifices; instead, regulate the Middle Qi. If after vomiting and diarrhea, the whole body becomes feverish and rashes resembling brocade patterns appear, fear that heat qi has entered the Stomach due to deficiency. This is common in summer; use Hua [missing character, likely 'Du' for Detoxification] Tang.
Yinzhen (Urticaria/Hives) mostly relates to the Spleen, as they appear faintly between the skin layers, often itch upon eruption, or may not be red. Laypeople call this Fengdan (Wind Dan). Use Jiawei Qianghuo San (Modified Notopterygium Powder).
