Infants suffering from milk stagnation experience restless sleep, frequent crying, heat in the mouth, and vomiting accompanied by signs of fright and vexation. Their bellies are distended and hot, and their stools are sour and foul-smelling. One should be cautious about using purgatives; instead, it is appropriate to use Xiaoru Wan (Milk Stagnation Pill).
[Note] Infants with milk stagnation present with restlessness during sleep, intermittent crying, hot breath, frequent regurgitation of undigested milk curds, abdominal distension and heat, and sour, foul-smelling stools. However, because their zang-fu organs are delicate, excessive purging must be avoided. The best approach is to harmonize the Spleen and Stomach, using Xiaoru Wan (Milk Stagnation Pill) to resolve food stagnation.
Xiaoru Wan (Formula see "Vomiting due to Damaged Milk")
Children with food stagnation who eat indiscriminately may exhibit warmth in the head, abdominal heat, pus-like sour stools, belching, anorexia, irritability, and thirst. One must carefully determine whether to first use Dexiao Anren Wan or Chengqi Tang.
[Note] When children indulge in rich, sweet, greasy, and raw/cold foods that they cannot transform and transport, accumulation and stagnation occur in the intestines and stomach. Symptoms include warmth in the head, abdominal heat, sour and foul-smelling stools, belching, aversion to food, irritability and insomnia, and dry mouth with thirst. For mild stagnation, Muxiang Da'an Wan (Aucklandia Great Peace Pill) is suitable for resolving stagnation; for severe stagnation with constipation, Xiao Chengqi Tang (Minor Order the Qi Decoction) is used to purge downwards.
Muxiang Da'an Wan (Aucklandia Great Peace Pill)

Xiao Chengqi Tang (Minor Order the Qi Decoction) (Formula see "Abdominal Pain due to Food")
Pi Ji (Mass Disease) results from overeating causing fullness in the intestines and stomach, where turbid fluids overflow and congeal due to cold invasion. Symptoms include tidal fever, preference for drinking cold water, emaciation, abdominal distension with hard masses, and a bluish-yellow complexion.
[Note] This syndrome of Pi Ji (Mass Disease) arises from unregulated diet leading to intestinal and gastric fullness, overflow of turbid juices, and subsequent condensation due to cold pathogenic factors. It typically occurs below the left hypochondrium, initially resembling an egg, becoming hard and mass-like, gradually taking the shape of an inverted basin. If it extends beyond the umbilicus, it becomes difficult to treat. Clinical manifestations include tidal fever, desire to drink cold water, emaciated skin, and a bluish-yellow facial complexion. Physicians should examine these details carefully.
Pi Ji (Mass Disease) presenting with tidal fever, thirst for cold drinks, large abdomen with visible blue veins, and hard, painful masses can be effectively treated internally with Xiaopi Muxiang Wan and externally with Honghua Gao.
[Note] At the onset of Pi Ji (Mass Disease), there is afternoon tidal fever, thirst with desire for cold drinks, abdominal distension with prominent subcutaneous veins, gradual formation of hard masses, and intermittent pain. Internally, Qianjin Xiaopi Wan (Preserve the Golden Age Mass-Resolving Pill) is used, and externally, Honghua Gao (Safflower Ointment) is applied. Treating both internally and externally allows the mass to dissipate naturally. If there is no heat or thirst, treat first with Muxiang Wan (Costus Pill) and apply Honghua Gao externally.
