止血、治产淋，用花亦良。痈疖未溃者，用针，酒煎服，一针溃一孔，二针二孔。消瘀血，
童便浸捣汁用。
贯众、赤小豆为之使。恶地黄、防葵。

甘草水浸一宿，曝干用。生用，下行。酒炒，上行。蜜炒，中行。猪胆汁拌炒，降火愈
速。
空心禁服。（令人溺不禁，太苦则下泄也。）
大损胃气，无实火者禁用。
【土贝母】味大苦，性寒。能解毒化痰，疏散郁结、清除热邪。治疗乳痈（乳腺急性化脓性炎症），祛痘毒。
【金灯藤/白英】又名金灯。味甘、微辛，性寒。有小毒。归足阳明胃经。能清热散结。治疗疔疮肿毒、恶疮、瘰疬（颈部淋巴结结核），解除各种毒素。与茶清（淡茶水）配伍，可吐出风痰引起的癫痫病症。与苍耳草配伍，治疗痈疽疔肿。使用时需去除毛壳。外敷肿毒时，用醋研磨后使用。
【地骨皮/枸杞根皮】味甘，性寒。入手少阴心经、手太阴肺经，兼入足太阴脾经、足阳明胃经。善于调理血分疾病。治疗吐血、衄血等各种出血症，瘀血阻滞及经闭，月经淋漓不尽及崩漏。清除伏热引起的烦渴，胃热导致的呃逆，肺热引起的喘息急促。消除水肿和黄疸，通利五种淋证（小便频数短涩、滴沥刺痛等），解酒毒。与葛根配伍，治疗温病热盛导致的呃逆。用其汁液煮猪肉，治疗五种黄疸。与枇杷叶配伍，治疗冷哕（因体内热盛大量饮水，突然引发的寒冷性呃逆）。止血、治疗产后淋证，使用其花朵效果也很好。对于未溃破的痈疖，用针刺患处，同时服用酒煎的药液，扎一针溃破一个脓孔，扎两针溃破两个脓孔。消散瘀血，需用童便浸泡后捣碎取汁使用。
【龙胆草】味大苦，性大寒。入足少阳胆经、足厥阴肝经的气分。泻除这两条经络的邪热，治疗下焦的湿肿。杀灭蛔虫，治疗黄疸，通利淋证和小便不通，治愈惊疳（小儿惊风夹积滞），止住腹泻痢疾，消除疮痈，去除喉痛，清除目赤肿痛。得到苍耳子配合，可治疗耳部疾病。（因为湿热得以清除。）得到柴胡配合，可治疗眼部疾病。与防风配伍，治疗小儿盗汗。佐以大麦芽，治疗谷疸（因饮食不节导致的黄疸）。与鸡蛋清调和，治疗伤寒发狂。拌入猪胆汁炒制，治疗病后盗汗。用甘草水浸泡一夜，晒干后使用。生用，药力下行。酒炒，药力上行。蜜炒，药力居中。用猪胆汁拌炒，降火速度更快。空腹禁止服用。（令人小便失禁，因为过于苦寒导致下泄。）严重损伤胃气，没有实火者禁用。
[Stemona tuberosa / Terra Bellis] Taste: Very bitter. Nature: Cold. Resolves toxicity and transforms phlegm, disperses stagnation and eliminates heat. Treats breast abscess (acute suppurative inflammation of the mammary gland) and acne toxin.
[Stemona japonica / White Vine], also known as Jin Deng. Taste: Sweet, slightly pungent. Nature: Cold. Slightly toxic. Enters the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. Clears heat and dissipates nodules. Treats carbuncles, malignant sores, scrofula (tuberculosis of cervical lymph nodes), and resolves various toxins. When combined with clear tea water, it induces vomiting to expel wind-phlegm causing epilepsy. When combined with Xanthium herb, it treats carbuncles and sores. Use by removing the hairy shell. For external application on swollen toxins, grind with vinegar.
[Lycium bark / Root bark of Goji berry] Taste: Sweet. Nature: Cold. Enters the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian and Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian, and concurrently enters the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. Excels at regulating blood diseases. Treats hematemesis, epistaxis, and various bleeding disorders; blood stasis and amenorrhea; irregular menstruation, dripping leukorrhea, and metrorrhagia. Eliminates latent heat causing vexation and thirst; stomach heat causing hiccups; lung heat causing rapid panting. Reduces edema and jaundice; unblocks the five types of stranguria (frequent, short, painful urination); resolves alcohol toxicity. Combined with Pueraria root, it treats hiccups caused by heat in warm diseases. Boiling its juice with pork treats five types of jaundice. Combined with Loquat leaf, it treats cold hiccups (sudden onset of cold-type hiccups due to excessive drinking of water from intense internal heat). Using the flowers is excellent for stopping bleeding and treating postpartum stranguria. For unruptured boils and furuncles, puncture with a needle and administer wine-decocted medicine orally; one puncture ruptures one pore, two punctures rupture two pores. To resolve blood stasis, soak in child's urine, then crush and extract juice.
Asarum sieboldii and Adzuki bean act as guides. Avoid Rehmannia root and Anchusa officinalis root.
[Gentiana scabra / Gentian root] Taste: Very bitter. Nature: Very cold. Enters the Qi level of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Drains pathogenic heat from these two meridians and treats damp swelling in the lower jiao. Kills roundworms, treats jaundice, unblocks stranguria and urinary retention, cures infantile convulsion with accumulation, stops diarrhea and dysentery, reduces sores and ulcers, relieves sore throat, and clears redness of the eyes. Combined with Xanthium fruit, it treats ear diseases (because damp-heat is eliminated). Combined with Bupleurum root, it treats eye diseases. Combined with Saposhnikovia root, it treats night sweats in children. Assisted by Hordeum vulgare malt, it treats grain jaundice (jaundice due to dietary indiscretion). Mixed with egg white, it treats mania caused by cold damage. Stir-fried with pig bile, it treats night sweats after illness. Soak in licorice water overnight, then dry in the sun before use. Raw use directs action downward. Wine-fried use directs action upward. Honey-fried use keeps action central. Stir-fried with pig bile reduces fire more rapidly. Forbidden on an empty stomach (causes urinary incontinence because extreme bitterness leads to downward purging). Severely damages stomach qi; forbidden for those without excess heat.
