The pus is thick like soybean juice; what is removed today will be refilled tomorrow. Crush fresh Brassica rapa var. oleifera leaves (i.e., current rapeseed leaves), cook them, place them in a cloth bag, heat them by baking in hot ashes, and apply alternating compresses to the affected area. This need not be done more than two or three times.
If fresh leaves are unavailable, use dried ones. (From *Qianjin Fang*)
If the ulcer recurs after healing and bone protrudes from the opening, crush Brasicaceae seeds (Wujingzi) and apply as a poultice. Wrap securely with cloth and change once daily. (From *Zhenyuan Guangli Fang*)
A fourteen-year-old girl had a growth on her wrist resembling a soybean in size, half embedded in the flesh, red-purple in color, causing severe pain. Various medicines proved ineffective. A Daoist practitioner rubbed four taels of Mercury (Shuiyin) with two sheets of white paper until processed, then applied the mercury to the lesion. It fell off naturally after three days, resulting in recovery. (From *Li Lou Guai Zheng Fang*)
(*Bencao Shiyi* records: When people suffer from sores and scabies, they often apply mercury. Due to its slippery and heavy nature, it penetrates directly into the flesh; caution is advised. It must not be used on head sores, lest it enter the meridians, causing laxity of sinews and bones, which would become incurable by any medicine.) Arsenic trioxide (Pi) should also not be used lightly. I record this here to warn others: unless absolutely necessary, do not use it rashly.
For severe pain, mash Vinegar-processed Smoked Plum Flesh (Wumei Rou) with fish [mucus/meat] and apply as a sealant to the affected area; this is miraculous. (Ibid.)
Someone suffered from a carbuncle that, after ulceration, periodically discharged a fine bone. They mixed raw Sesame oil (Tongyou) with Lithargite powder (Miduoseng) to form a paste, spread it on silk, and applied it as a patch, leading to recovery. (From *Dongtian Baosheng*)
In the south, where rain is frequent, there exists a substance called "Muchi," resembling mucus in appearance. It grows on ancient trees; sensing human presence, it trembles. If it falls onto a person passing beneath, it immediately causes sores, which may eventually cover the whole body. Applying Cinnabar (Zhusha) and Moschus (Shexiang) cures it. (From *Zhang Gao Yi Shuo*)
In recent years, an epidemic disease has occurred, characterized by sudden outbreaks of sores on the head, face, and body within moments. The lesions resemble burns and exude white fluid; new sores appear as soon as old ones are opened. Without treatment, death occurs within days. After recovery, scars remain for over a year. This is attributed to the accumulation of malignant toxic qi. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Yuan of Jin, this sore spread eastward from the Western Regions into Central China. It is advisable to take high-quality honey and massage it over the sores. Boil Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma) in honey and frequently wipe the lesions. (From *Qi Fang Lei*)
Another method involves washing the area with decoction of Brassica rapa var. oleifera leaves. (From *Mi...* )
Another method uses Portulaca oleracea (Machixian) burned to ash and ground into powder for application. The root cause will exit with the medicine shortly; if not, continue application. (From *Zhouhou Fang*)
