A sudden elevation of one cun in the center of the palm, without pain or itching, is caused by the fire of the Yangming Meridian (Yangming Channel) failing to dissipate and stagnating in the hand. Theoretically, it should cause pain or itching; however, the absence of these sensations indicates not only that fire is stagnating in the Couli (interstitial spaces between skin and muscle), but also that water-dampness is obstructing the skin and hair follicles. Boil one Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root, *Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata*) in water, and soak the hand in the decoction until it cools down. After such treatment for ten days, pain will inevitably arise; subsequent soaking will induce itching; continued soaking will cause the elevated area to flatten. This is because Fuzi is a highly hot substance that enters every meridian; even when applied externally via soaking, its medicinal power penetrates internally. Alternatively, adding one fen of Qingfen (Calomel, *Hydrargyri Chloridum Venale*) to the Fuzi decoction can guide the medicine into the bone marrow, yielding an even more miraculous effect. (Ibid.)
A snake-shaped mark appears on the hand or skin surface, accompanied by unbearable pain. This is attributed to a serpent taking advantage of the person's sleep to act upon them, interacting with the human body to produce this strange disease. Puncture it with a knife until blood flows out like ink powder. Apply ground Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, *Radix Angelicae Dahuricae*) as a dusting powder; symptoms will slightly improve. The next day, puncture and bleed again as before, then apply Baizhi powder once more. After two treatments, the snake shape will disappear. It is crucial to puncture the head first and the tail last; do not disrupt this order. (Ibid.)
The navel suddenly protrudes two cun long, resembling a snake's tail but not being a snake; it is neither painful nor itchy. This is considered a manifestation of malevolent spirits. The prescribed method is to grind Ercha (Catechu, *Extractum Acaciae Confectum*), Xionghuang (Realgar, *Realgar*), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, *Radix Angelicae Dahuricae*) [each 1 qian], Shexiang (Musk, *Moschus*), Bingpian (Borneol, *Borneolum Syntheticum*), and Pengsha (Borax, *Borax*) [each 1 fen] into a fine powder. Puncture the "tail" to release blood; the patient will likely faint and feel as if dying. Immediately apply the powder to the spot, and it will instantly transform into black water, leading to recovery. If it does not heal, let it be; do not treat it further. This is because demonic qi is too strong for medicine to dispel; it may be a karmic enemy from a past life or retribution for sins committed in this life. (Ibid.)
The abdomen feels hard as iron or stone, fluid exudes from the navel, which then transforms into a sensation of insects crawling, encircling the body with unbearable itching that cannot be cleared by brushing or sweeping. Bathe in a strongly brewed decoction of Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, *Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae*), followed by internal medication for further regulation. (*Quan Shu Chuang Yang*)
This is due to Wind-Heat. Take one dou of salt and one shi of water, boil to make a bath decoction, and bathe three to four times. This also treats all kinds of wind-related disorders. (*Wai Tai Mi Yao*)
Another prescription: Soya beans are soaked in water, wrung out to extract the juice, and used to wash the affected area repeatedly. Adding a small amount of flour is also beneficial for washing the hair. (*Qian Jin Yi*)
