Take one piece of toad skin, burn it inside a bottle to generate smoke for fumigation, and apply the powder topically. (Ibid.)
Another method: In autumn and winter, crush coriander seeds (Coriandri Fructus), boil them in vinegar, and apply hot compresses; this is very effective. (*Bencao* by Meng Shen)
Burn aged sauce eggplants until they retain their medicinal properties, add a small amount of musk and calomel, mix with animal fat, and apply as a plaster. (*Shouyu Shenfang*)
If illuminated by fire, it will cause death. However, spitting on its face to induce pain, or biting its heel and the area around the big toenail, can save the victim. Extract juice from Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum), blow it into the patient's nose. In winter, use chive roots instead. (*Ge Zhichuan Fang*)
Heat a new cloth over fire and apply as a warm compress to the eyes. Simultaneously, steam soybeans, place them alternately in cloth bags, and use them as pillows. Replace when cool, and sleeping on them all night will lead to recovery. (Ibid.)
For injuries caused by seawater or salt substances, or cracks due to wind exposure causing unbearable pain, use Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Angelica Sinensis Root (Danggui), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo), and Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjie) (each 2 liang), grind into powder, mix with half a jin of honey, add 30 jin of water and wine, decoct, and bathe in the solution. Recovery occurs within one night. (*Shi Liúqiú*)
It is said that this refers to leprosy (Hanshen). Initially, numbness spreads over the whole body, followed by white scales and red patches spreading like macules. If snake-skin-like lesions occur along with loss of eyebrows and beard (rare in inland areas, common in miasma regions), use sulfur, halite (Hanshuishi), calcined alum (Kubaijian), Cyathula Root (Guanzhong) (each 2 liang), Cnidium Fruit (Shechuangzi) (1 liang), and mirabilite (Puxiao) (5 qian). Grind into fine powder. Mix with lard from December pigs, apply to the whole body. Additionally, use Cortex Lycii (Digupi), Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjie), Sophora Root (Kushen), and Asarum Root (Xixin) (each 2 liang), decoct in river water for bathing and fumigation. The patient must maintain mental clarity and abstain from desires, keep a bland diet, and treat early. There may be hope for survival; however, if dietary habits remain rich and sexual desires are not curbed, recurrence is inevitable after recovery, leading to eventual death. (*Chen Shi Jingyan Fang*)
Whenever encountering funerals, visiting ancient temples, entering uninhabited rooms, or constructing altars for heaven, earth, and spirits, sudden collapse upon return, with flushed face and inability to speak, is termed "Corpse Miasma" (Shiju) or "Ghost Tethering" (Guizhu), commonly known as being bewitched. Move the patient's head to the east, have the host burn incense and bow facing north, then perform the vinegar-fume nasal stimulation method to restore consciousness; otherwise, bleeding from the seven orifices will lead to death. Use one sheng of vinegar and a basin of charcoal fire, continuously pouring vinegar onto the fire so that the patient inhales the vinegar fumes to regain consciousness. (*Jishi Qifang*)
