Acne in Youth: *Zi Bei Fu Ping* (Four taels) and *Han Fang Ji* (One tael), decocted into a concentrated liquid for washing. Continue to rub the floating fern (*Ping*) hotly onto the spots three to five times daily. Although the material is minor, its efficacy is great; do not underestimate it. (From *Pu Ji Fang*)
Rough and Cracked Facial Skin: Four large pig trotters, washed clean and boiled until gelatinous. Apply to the face before sleep, and wash with rice water the next morning. After half a month, the facial skin becomes fine and tight like that of a child. (From *Xiu Zhen Fang*)
Facial Rosacea/Jiu Ci: Decoct *Tu Si Zi* (Cuscutae Semen) in water and wash the affected area to achieve cure. (From *Feng Shi Jin Nang*)
Facial Acne/Pimples: *Yi Mu Cao* (Leonuri Herba, burnt to ash) and soap (one tael each), pounded together into pills. Wash three times daily; after ten days, pimples will naturally cease to appear. Must avoid alcohol and ginger to prevent recurrence. (From *Ji Jian Fang*)
Facial Purple Patches: Size of a coin, or covering the whole face. Use *Chuan Shan Jia* (Manis Squama, ten slices, burnt to retain carbonized nature), wild *Da Huang* (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), fresh ginger juice (four taels each), and *Chuan Jiao* powder (five qian). Grind together and mix. Wipe with raw silk cloth; if dry, moisten with vinegar. After several applications, it returns to normal; frequently effective. (From *Lu Shi Ji De Tang Fang*)
Facial Dark Qi: Roast *Ban Xia* (Pinelliae Rhizoma), grind into powder, and apply mixed with rice vinegar. Avoid wind exposure. Apply from morning to night without limit on frequency. Dark, Rough, and Ugly Complexion: Five pig pancreases, two taels of *Wu Jing Zi* (Brassicae Semenis), *Tu Gua Gen* (Trichosanthes Radix), and one tael each of *Xing Ren* (Armeniacae Semen Amarum). Soak in strong wine. Apply at night and wash in the morning. It transforms the old to young, and the dark to white; a divine and effective prescription. (From *Zhou Hou Fang*)
Sudden Red-Black Dan Toxicity on Face resembling Scabies: If not treated urgently, spreading to the whole body leads to death. Burn deer horn (*Lu Jiao*) into powder and mix with lard. (From *Dan Fang Quan Ji*)
Facial Freckles/Dark Spots: *Bai Fu Zi* (Typhonii Rhizoma), *Bai Ji* (Bletillae Rhizoma), *Bai Lian* (Ampelopsis Radix), *Bai Fu Ling* (Poria), *Mi Tuo Seng* (Lithargyri), and *Ding Fen* (Cerussa) in equal parts. Grind into fine powder. Wash face before sleep, apply medicine mixed with rice water, and wash off the next morning. Repeat until dark spots are removed. (From *Chuan Bao Jia*)
Facial Black Freckles: Two taels each of *Hei Qian Niu* (Pharbitidis Semen) and *Bai Jiang Can* (Bombyx Batryticatus); one tael of *Xi Xin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma). Grind into fine powder, refine honey to make pills the size of a bullet. Wash several times daily; after one month, the spots disappear naturally. (Ibid.)
Facial Moles and All Scar Traces: Two qian of *Shi Bai* (Calculus Bovis), mixed evenly with human saliva, add a little honey, apply to face. Smoothness achieved in three to four days. (Ibid.)
Facial White Bo (Vitiligo): White patches appear on the face, resembling tinea but not tinea, with skin gradually turning white. No medicine can treat it. Use only eel fat (*Mian Li Yu Zhi*), heated over fire to extract one tael. First wipe the patch, scrape until dry and painful, then apply oil. Cure within three applications. (Ibid.)
Rosacea Face: One qian each of *Tian Dong* (Asparagi Radix), *Chuan Jiao* (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium), *Bai Zhi* (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), bitter *Xing Ren* (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, peeled), and *Liu Huang* (Sulfur). Grind into fine powder, mix with oil into pills. Rub on face before sleep. Abstain from sexual intercourse for one hundred days to be cured. (From *Ji Yan Fang*)
Scratched Facial Skin: Natural juice of fresh ginger, mixed with light powder, applied to heal without scarring. (From *Qi Fang Lei Bian*)
Red and Swollen Cheeks: One jin of *Bai Hua Bai He* (Lilii Bulbus), peeled root of *Shan Zha Ma*, one qian each of *Bei Mu* (Fritillariae Bulbus) and *Xuan Ming Fen* (Mirabilite), seven fen of *Yin Zhu* (Cinnabaris). Mix with white flour to paste and apply; immediate cure. (Ibid.)
