This refers to the residual symptoms of Jingfeng (Convulsion, a pediatric condition characterized by convulsions and stiffness) in pediatrics; however, it is actually caused by Summerheat, Malaria, Dysentery, Cough, Carbuncle-toxin (Dan Du), Sores and Pox, Cholera, Ke Wu (Sudden illness due to external evil qi), or Zhong E (Sudden collapse due to malignant evil). Each symptom should be carefully examined, and a single prescription can cure it. If the medication does not match the syndrome, delaying treatment will lead to intense heat. Since children's Yin blood is not yet full, persistent high fever may occur, causing the Shen Qi (Spirit and Vital Qi) to become confused and stifled; if Blood fails to nourish the Jin Ye (Sinews), hand and foot spasms and jerking will ensue. This aligns with the principle in *Nei Jing* (Inner Canon) that "all heat conditions leading to confusion and flaccidity belong to Fire." Therefore, these syndromes are listed under the category of Lei Chu (Similar Convulsions), using prescriptions from their respective categories, so as not to confuse misdiagnosed convulsions with non-convulsive cold, heat, deficiency, and excess patterns.
Yang Shu (Yang Summerheat), also known as Zhong Re (Heat Stroke), is described as follows: At the onset, the face appears dirty, the body is hot with spontaneous sweating, there is irritability and restlessness, lips and tongue are red, and exhaled breath feels like fire. [Text implies thirst]. Da Bai Hu Tang (Great White Tiger Decoction) treats Yang Shu fever with headache, extreme thirst, profuse sweating, constipation, dark urine, and irritability.
Shu Shi Gao (Prepared Gypsum Fibrosum, 3 qian) Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 2 qian) Zhi Cao (Honey-fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian) Wan Dao Mi (Late Rice Grain, 1 liang) Decoct in water and take orally.
Que Shu Dan (Summer-Cooling Pill) treats pediatric Summerheat injury where the mistaken use of Wind-dispelling herbs causes mental confusion, irritability, and even spasms.
Piao Bai Zhu (Washed Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) Bai Fu Ling (Poria) Zhu Ling (Polyporus) Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma) Zhi Cao (Honey-fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 5 qian) Qing Hua Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, green-flowered variety) Chuan Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (each 3 qian) Jing Chen Sha (Refined Cinnabar, 2 qian)
Grind all into fine powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of Euryale Seed (Qian Shi). Take 2-3 pills per dose, washed down with Mai Dong Tang (Ophiopogonis Decoction), or one-tenth of the dose may suffice. Adding Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) for decoction is also acceptable. For Yang Shu with weak pulse accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea, take two-tenths of this formula, remove Huang Lian and Huang Qin, add Xiang Ru (Elsholtziae Herba, 8 fen), Bian Dou (Dolichoris Semen, 1 qian), and Ginger Slice (1 piece). Decoct in water and take warm or cool.
Yi Yuan San (Benefit the Origin Powder, i.e., Liu Yi San)
Hua Shi (Talcum, 3 liang, processed by water flotation) Gan Cao (Licorice Root, 5 qian)
Grind together into powder. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with fresh well-water. This is an essential medicine for treating Summerheat. Adding Chen Sha (Cinnabar, 2 qian, processed by water flotation) to the formula is particularly effective.
Children from affluent families fear Summerheat and crave coolness, avoiding not the cold wind, or living in deep halls and large mansions, experiencing sudden changes between cold and heat, and failing to guard their clothing and bedding properly. This allows Cold Evil to invade the muscle-surface. Symptoms include headache, absence of sweating, aversion to cold, bodily stiffness and tension, and soreness and pain in the four limbs. This is contracting Cold in the summer months; although named Yin Shu (Yin Summerheat), it is essentially an injury by Cold. Treatment should employ warming and dispersing methods. For cases without sweat, use Wu Ji San (Five Accumulations Powder). For the aforementioned symptoms accompanied by sweating, thirst, aversion to cold, and fever, use Qing Shu Yi Qi Tang (Clear Summerheat and Benefit Qi Decoction).
Wu Ji San (Five Accumulations Powder) treats Yin Shu contracted Cold, presenting with headache, no sweat, aversion to cold, bodily stiffness, and limb soreness/pain.

If accompanied by abdominal pain and diarrhea, remove Huang Bo, add Chao Bai Shao (Fried Paeoniae Radix Alba) and Fu Ling (Poria) each 1.5 qian.
Tong Zhi Qian Jin Xiao Shu Wan (Universal Thousand-Gold Summer-Cooling Pill) treats severe Summerheat with mental confusion, as well as latent Summerheat with food stagnation causing vomiting and diarrhea.
Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, vinegar-fried, 4 liang) Fu Ling (Poria) Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (each 2 liang)
