[From *Jufang* (Prescriptions from the Imperial Medical Bureau)] Treats lochia that fails to discharge, pain in the Pericardium Collateral, or abdominal pain caused by stagnant blood. (Stagnant blood obstructs and fails to circulate; ascending to strike the Pericardium Collateral and descending to obstruct the abdomen, both cause stifling pain.)
Puhuang (Polygoni Hydropiperis Herba) and Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces), ground into powder in equal proportions. Decocted into a paste. Taken with vinegar.
Raw Puhuang is slippery and promotes blood circulation; Wulingzhi has a fishy odor and disperses blood stasis. (Its odor enters the Liver Meridian.) Both can enter the Jueyin Meridian to invigorate blood and relieve pain, thus treating blood-stasis pain.
Take one liang of each ingredient in this formula, add Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) and Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra) five qian each. Take four qian per dose, with a little salt. Named "Tongling San" (Spirit-Connecting Powder), it treats nine types of heart pain.
[From Yan Shi] Treats sudden fainting and unconsciousness after childbirth when lochia has already cleared. (This is due to deficiency of Qi and Blood postpartum, compounded by contraction of Wind-Cold.)
Zelan Ye (Lycopus Herba), Zhi Gancao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 3 fen), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 5 fen), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba, 1 qian). Ground into powder, taken with warm wine. [Text fragment regarding lacquerware omitted as nonsensical in context].
Since Qi and Blood are deficient, Renshen and Gancao are used to tonify Qi. Since external Wind pathogen is present, Jingjie is used to disperse Wind. (Jingjie is best at dispersing Wind within the Blood, therefore... thus... Treats postpartum fever, spontaneous sweating, and limb pain, named "Rulao" (Bed-labor)).
Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 1 liang), Renshen, Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 7 qian), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 5 qian). Use one jin of mutton, boil to extract juice, discard meat, and decoct the aforementioned herbs in the juice. If lochia is not yet clear...
Renshen tonifies Qi and secures the Defensive Qi; Danggui nourishes Blood and harmonizes the Nutritive Qi. Shengjiang is acrid and warm, guiding Qi-tonifying herbs into the Qi level to generate new Blood. Mutton is sweet and hot, used for... [Text fragments: 'has removal', 'type injury', 'or', 'soft', 'raw', 'food', 'must']... Remove Renshen and Huangqi, use one jin of mutton, five liang of Shengjiang, and three liang of Danggui. Named "Danggui Shengjiang Yangrou Tang" (Dong Quai, Ginger, and Lamb Decoction). (From *Jinkui Yaolue*) Treats abdominal pain postpartum.
[From *Chanbao* (Essentials of Obstetrics), i.e., Motherwort Paste/Pill] Treats all diseases during pregnancy and postpartum, as well as irregular menstruation and leukorrhea (red and white discharge).
On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, sixth day of the sixth lunar month, or Minor Heat solar term, when Motherwort flowers are in full bloom, harvest the whole plant including roots, dry in shade, and use the flowers, leaves, and seeds. Pound in a stone mortar... descend.
Ben Tong Wu Li Ai Tang [Fragmentary text].
Motherwort excels at resolving water dampness, moving blood, removing stasis to generate new blood, and promoting urination and defecation, thus it is essential for menstrual and postpartum care. However, its nature is acrid, dispersing, cold, and slippery; only for blood stagnation and blood heat... Xiao Ding... Fen Feng... then moves...
