(Yan's) Treats red and white leukorrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and emaciation. (This is a syndrome of blood deficiency with heat; the treatment method should be cooling tonification. The pulse classics state: "Prolonged metrorrhagia leads to white leukorrhea; prolonged metrorrhea causes the bone root to wither." This means that prolonged metrorrhagia results in blood depletion, which subsequently leads to the loss of Yang qi, causing white slippery substances to leak out continuously.)

Form into pills using vinegar paste. Take with rice broth.
Dang Gui, Bai Shao, Shu Di Huang, Xu Duan, and E Jiao nourish the Liver and Kidneys to treat blood deficiency. Mu Li and Di Yu clear heat and astringe to stop leakage, thereby arresting leukorrhea. Chi Shao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra) is sour and cold, capable of...

(The *Jin Gui Yao Lue*): Zhang Zhongjing said: Women may suffer from metrorrhagia, or continuous bleeding after a miscarriage, or sudden bleeding during pregnancy. If abdominal pain occurs during pregnancy, it is called Bao Zu (Womb Obstruction), and Jiao Ai Tang (Colla Corii Asini and Artemisia Decoction) is the primary formula. (This generally states that for uterine bleeding in women, Jiao Ai Tang should be used to warm and tonify the blood. Pregnancy-related bleeding is one such case, but the etiology differs. Spontaneous metrorrhagia arises from chronic blood deficiency compounded by exogenous pathogens. Continuous bleeding after miscarriage results from blood deficiency due to hemorrhage, making it difficult for righteous Qi to recover. Bleeding during pregnancy caused by masses (Zheng Jia) certainly exists. However, when accompanied by abdominal pain, it is due to Bao Zu. "Zu" implies an obstruction of the blood that wishes to flow, leading to disharmony of Qi, rather than a fixed mass pathology. Therefore, Jiao Ai Tang is used to nourish Yin and tonify blood; nothing surpasses Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) for this purpose. When blood acts recklessly, it often carries Wind pathogen forming turbid phlegm. E Jiao, primarily made from donkey hide, dispels Wind; decocting it with Ji Shui (water from the Ji River) helps clarify turbidity. Ai Ye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi) is warm and promotes circulation, guiding blood back to its vessels. Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) harmonizes the formula, preventing Si Wu Tang from being overly Yin-cold. This is the synergy of these three components. The ingenuity of application truly lies in Jiao Ai Tang.)
