(Hu Seng Formula) Eliminates wind-dampness, treats emaciation and weakness, preserves youthful appearance, blackens beard and hair, expels disease, and prolongs life.
Tender Mulberry Leaf (remove pedicels, wash clean, dry in sun, one jin ground into powder) Jushengzi (i.e., Black Sesame Seed, washed clean, four liang) White Honey (one jin)
Crush the sesame seeds, mix with mulberry leaf powder and white honey to make pills. Take in the morning with light salt water.
The mulberry tree is the essence of the Jin Star; its wood benefits the joints and nourishes body fluids. Its leaves are sweet and cold, entering the Hand and Foot Yangming meridians, cooling blood, drying dampness, and eliminating wind. Jushengzi is sweet and neutral, strengthening bones.
(Han Zhihe Formula) Treats damage to yang and loss of blood due to excessive sweating or purgation in Cold Damage disorders; patients dislike people, curl up and lie down, experience frequent chills resembling malaria, as well as blood deficiency resulting from postpartum hemorrhage. (Han Zhihe stated: If one merely attempts to rescue the critical condition, efficacy will be slow; administering Mutton Decoction yields very rapid results. Although the patient's complexion shows signs of floating yang, this indicates heat lodging in the Upper Jiao, while Yin qi in the Middle and Lower Jiao has become excessive. If managed properly to generate yang in the Lower Jiao, the yang qi of the Upper Jiao will descend to the Dantian, finding its proper residence.)
Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) Muli (Ostreae Concha, one liang) Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi, five qian) Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix) Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, two liang) Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus, seven qian half)
Take an appropriate amount per dose.
Danggui and Baishao tonify yin; Fuzi, Shengjiang, and Guizhi restore yang; Longgu and Muli astringe and prevent collapse of vital energy; Mutton provides great tonification to generate qi and blood.
(Li Dongyuan Formula) Treats internal cataracts causing blurred vision, tinnitus, and deafness. (The qi of the five zang organs is derived from the spleen and stomach, reaching the nine orifices. Fatigue damages the harmonious qi of the middle jiao, preventing it from ascending, thus causing blurred vision and deafness. Li Dongyuan said: If physicians do not regulate the spleen and stomach, nor nourish blood and calm the spirit, treating only symptoms without addressing the root, they demonstrate a lack of medical understanding.)
Huangqi (Astragali Radix) Renshen (Ginseng Radix, five qian) Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) Manjingzi (Viticis Semen, three qian) Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, two qian. Double to four qian if there is heat-induced restlessness. Take before bed.)
The clear yang qi of the twelve meridians ascends to the head and face, entering the orifices. Due to improper diet and overwork, the spleen and stomach are injured, heart fire becomes excessive, causing the vessels to boil, clear yang fails to ascend, turbid yin fails to descend, and yin and yang become disharmonious.
