Chen Zishan stated: The Stomach is the sea of water and grain. Its essence circulates to nourish the five zang organs, while its dregs are transmitted to the Large Intestine for excretion. Internally, injury may be caused by raw, cold, or milk/food substances; externally, it may be affected by wind, cold, summer-heat, and dampness. Irregular eating habits lead to the Spleen's inability to digest and transform. When cold and heat pathogens interfere with each other, diarrhea (Xie Xie) results. If the Qi of the Spleen and Stomach is harmonious, allowing for proper digestion of food and drink, and if the clear and turbid parts separate correctly, how could such a condition arise? The ancients said: Spleen deficiency leads to vomiting; Stomach deficiency leads to diarrhea; when both Spleen and Stomach are deficient, vomiting and diarrhea occur simultaneously. If chronic diarrhea persists without stopping, the primordial Qi must be depleted, and a major tonification method should be employed.
Treatment methods: Push San Guan (Three Gates), Clear Xin Jing (Heart Meridian), Nourish Shen Shui (Kidney Water), Tonify Pi Wei (Spleen and Stomach), Pinch Zuo Duan Zheng (Left End Point), Reverse-push Da Chang (Large Intestine), Rub Wai Lao Gong (Outer Labor Palace), Divide Yin and Yang, Move Ba Gua (Eight Trigrams), Rub Qi (Navel) and Gui Wei (Turtle Tail), Pinch Liang Ce Du Jiao (Both sides of the Belly Corner), Pinch Cheng Shan. For cold syndromes, add Huang Feng Chu Dong (Yellow Bee Exits the Cave), push San Guan, push Liu Fu (Six Limbs), Dou Zhou (Elbow Bowl). For heat syndromes, add Lao Ming Yue (Scooping the Bright Moon), Da Ma Guo Tian He (Horse Crossing the Heavenly River), push San Guan, push Liu Fu, rub Dou Zhou.
Chen Zishan stated: Huo Luan (Cholera-like disorder) refers to sudden onset and chaotic symptoms. External pathogenic invasion combined with internal dietary injury causes Yin and Yang to block at the diaphragm, resulting in upper vomiting and lower dysentery, with intestinal disturbance and stifling pain.
Treatment methods: Push San Guan, Clear Fei Jing (Lung Meridian), Move Ba Gua, Tonify Pi Tu (Spleen Earth), push Da Chang, push Si Heng Wen (Four Horizontal Lines), Divide Yin and Yang, push Er Ren Shang Ma (Two People Ascend to Horse), Cang Long Bai Wei (Green Dragon Swings Tail). Additionally, take one bulb of single-headed garlic, crush it, place it on the navel covered by seven layers of burnt paper. If blisters form, apply egg white to the area, which will lead to recovery.
Chen Zishan stated: Pediatric abdominal pain can be due to cold or heat, food stagnation, jia masses (abdominal lumps), hernia with cold, or ascaris movement causing pain. Since various pains differ in presentation and name, they cannot be generalized. He further stated: Heat-type abdominal pain is characterized by intermittent pain and is most common during summer months.
Treatment methods: Push San Guan, push Liu Fu, push Pi Tu, Divide Yin and Yang (heavy on Yin, light on Yang), Huang Feng Chu Dong, push Si Heng Wen.
Tu Weisheng stated: Huang Feng Chu Dong is a strongly heating method used for treating cold syndromes. Using it for heat-type abdominal pain is likely erroneous; practitioners should exercise caution. Methods such as Qing Tian He Shui (Clearing the Heavenly River Water) should be adopted instead.
Chen Zishan stated: Cold-type abdominal pain is characterized by constant pain without fluctuation.
Treatment methods: Push San Guan, move Wu Jing Wen (Five Meridian Lines), push Er Men Shan (Two Doors Gate), push Yi Wo Feng (One Nest Wind), An Xian Cuo Mo (Press Strings and Rub), move Ba Gua, rub Qi and Gui Wei.
Chen Zishan stated: Pain caused by qi stagnation and food stagnation presents as sudden severe pain, constipation, elevation of the chest and heart region, and tenderness where the abdomen cannot be touched or pressed.
Treatment methods: Push San Guan, Divide Yin and Yang, push Pi Tu, rub Qi and Gui Wei, pinching Wei Ling. If abdominal distension occurs, push Da Chang.
Chen Zishan stated: Cold qi attacking the Heart manifests as cold limbs and reversal, profuse cold sweat over the body, and in severe cases, cyanosis of the fingernails, with a deep, fine, and weak pulse.
Treatment methods: Push San Guan, move Ba Gua, Divide Yin and Yang (heavy on Yin, light on Yang), Tonify Kidney, push Er Men Shan, Huang Feng Chu Dong. Heavily rub Ji Wei (Jiwei point) front and back, use ginger and scallion massage to induce sweating.
Tu Weisheng stated: Jiwei is located one cun below the bifurcation of the xiphoid process. It is named "Jiwei" because the bone hangs down like the tail of a turtledove.
