Treats all kinds of contusions and traumatic injuries, as well as gunshot wounds where lead bullets remain inside the body, with life hanging in the balance. Take one qian (approx. 3-5g) of the powder, drink several cups of wine, sleep quietly for a short while; recovery occurs once sweating ensues. Avoid cold water, raw/cold foods, and distilled spirits for three days.
Tianzhu Huang (Bambusae Concretio Silicea), Liu Jiu Nu (Artemisiae Annuae Herba), Hong Ya Da Ji (Euphorbiae Humifusae Radix), Xue Jie (Santalum Rubrum), each at 3 liang (approx. 90-150g); Xiong Huang (Realgar) at 2 liang (approx. 60-100g); Gui Wei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Caudex) at 2.5 liang (approx. 75-125g); Er Cha (Catechu), Chen Sha (Cinnabar), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), San Qi (Notoginseng Radix), each at 1 liang (approx. 30-50g); Hu Po (Amber), Ru Xiang (Olibanum, processed to remove oil and ground into fine powder); She Xiang (Moschus); Zhen Shan Yang Xue (Capra Hircus Blood); Qing Fen (Calomelas); Shui Yin (Hydrargyrum), each at 3 qian (approx. 9-15g). Grind Qing Fen and Shui Yin together until no silver specks are visible. Teng Huang (Pararengal) at 2 liang (approx. 60-100g): wrap in gauze, stew in Shan Yang Xue over boiling water for the time it takes to burn one incense stick; repeat daily with fresh blood until only 3 qian of Teng Huang remains. Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Melt 24 liang of high-quality Huang La (Beeswax), add the medicinal powder, stir evenly off heat, and form pills using boiling water. Large pills weigh 1 qian each, medium pills 5 fen (approx. 1.5-2g), small pills 3 fen (approx. 0.9-1.5g). Store in porcelain vessels.
For any open wound, never apply ash from incense. Doing so makes healing difficult; take this warning seriously.
For sprains or blows that do not bleed but present with cyanosis or purple discoloration, first crush Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus), stir-fry until hot, and rub thoroughly over the painful area. Then apply a paste made from Sheng Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) powder mixed with Sheng Jiang Zhi (Zingiberis Recens Juice). Drink plenty of good hot wine and lie down to recover spontaneously. This method is also miraculous for chronic non-healing cases. Another prescription: grind Sheng Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus) with flour and apply topically; swelling will subside and discoloration will fade.
For injuries to the chest and diaphragm resulting in loss of appetite, consume finely minced Sheng Zhu Rou (Porcis Carnis) taken with warm water, one qian at a time; appetite will return immediately.
For open wounds with unceasing bleeding, apply juice from water-ground Gan Lan (Canarii Fructus); healing occurs within days without scarring.
For severe trauma caused by metal blades, urgently apply a mixture of red-hot charcoal and Bai Sha Tang (Saccharum officinarum) pounded into a paste; this can save lives.
For bone fractures caused by horse or mule trampling, apply a powder of Sheng Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) and Sheng Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex), each 2 qian. Additionally, roast Xie Ke (Carapax et Plastrum Testudinis) and Xin Wa (Tile fragments) on a new tile until carbonized (preserving internal properties), grind into powder, and mix with Lao Jiu (aged wine) for oral administration; bones will knit naturally. Using fresh crab pounded into a paste is even better.
For injuries causing eye protrusion, urgently massage the eye back into place. Apply a slice of Sheng Zhu Rou sprinkled with a little Dang Gui Wei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis Caudex) powder and Chi Shi Zhi (Halloysitum Rubrum); removing toxic blood leads to recovery.
For open wounds where qi has ceased but membranes/fascia remain intact, rescue is possible. Urgently crush Cong Bai, stir-fry until hot, and apply thickly to seal the wound; consciousness returns. Honey or sugar may be added. These methods stop bleeding and relieve pain. Replace if cooled.
For critical conditions after injury due to wind invasion, use 1-2 Si Cao Chong (larvae of *Scapteriscus vicinus* found on manure piles or thatched roofs). Pinch the dorsal side to induce excretion of yellow fluid, mix this fluid with hot wine, and drink. Smear the remaining yellow fluid on the wound; recovery follows when numbness and sweating occur.
For post-injury complications from bathing in dampness, presenting with facial deviation, tongue stiffness, coma, and symptoms resembling Zhong Feng (Stroke), decoct Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) 1 liang in wine and administer frequently. Those who cannot tolerate alcohol may use water decoction.
