Treats wind-stroke (stroke caused by wind pathogen), phlegm-wind (pathological product formed by the interaction of wind and phlegm), and loss of consciousness.
Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix), Tianxiong (Prepared Aconiti Radix), Wutou (Aconiti Radix).
The above ingredients are used in equal proportions, raw, with skin and navel removed, sliced thinly. For each herb, take one liang, along with one liang of fresh ginger, add three zhan of water, and decoct until one and a half zhan remains. Strain the dregs and take warm.
For sudden acute wind-stroke, when other medicines cannot be taken, first administer Shexiang Jian (Musk Decoction) or Wuji San (Five Accumulations Powder); this is very effective. After the patient regains consciousness, treat according to the specific syndrome. Su Xunzhi, Li Xin, Wu Yi Tang Cheng Ji Runming warned: Remember, those attacked by wind should not immediately take wind-expelling medicines, and those attacked by qi stagnation should not immediately take qi-regulating medicines. If one feels these symptoms appearing, urgently use three qian of high-quality real musk flesh, grind it in a mortar until extremely fine, mix with true clear sesame oil (quantity unrestricted) to form a thin liquid suitable for drinking, and have the patient consume it all in one dose. One must distinguish carefully; rapeseed oil must not be used, as less medicine will result in slower efficacy. If the jaw is clenched tightly, pry it open and pour the mixture in; even consuming one or two jin is harmless. Taking these two medicines can permanently prevent the affliction of hemiplegia and dysarthria. Later, if diagnosed as wind-stroke, only take formulas like Xiao Xuming Tang (Minor Continuation of Life Decoction); if diagnosed as qi-stroke (stroke caused by qi disorder), only need to take Yunqi medicines (Qi-Regulating Medicines), and naturally there will be no issues. He obtained this prescription from Zhang Shaowei, Prefect of Handong, while serving as an instructor, who claimed it was effective in multiple trials. Ji Run also treated several people with it, stating that musk mixed with sesame oil is superior to Shexiang Jian and Wuji San.
Treats adults and children suffering from yawning due to deficiency-wind, and stops vomiting and transforms phlegm-fluid using Baifuzi San (White Typhonium Powder).
Baifuzi (Typhonii Rhizoma, half liang, processed), Tiannanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, half liang, processed), Heifuzi (Aconiti Radix Processata, processed, skin and navel removed, one fen).
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take two qian per dose, add one zhan of water and five slices of ginger, decoct over slow fire until six parts remain, take at any time. For children, take one qian, add one zhan of water and three slices of ginger, decoct over slow fire, stirring constantly until half a small zhan remains, divide into three doses. When Wu Nei Han was in Zhenzhou during the Gui Mao year of Xuanhe era, Dr. Li Jingkai used this formula to treat his grandson, with excellent results. In the Xin Hai year of Shaoxing era, Chen Yanxiu, Vice Minister of Kangzhou, suffered from severe deficiency-wind coma; after taking three or four doses, he regained consciousness and recovered safely.
