Wang Shi states: "Qianjin Fang" records Xu Sizhi saying: The disease of wind-xuan originates from deficiency of Heart Qi. Heat accumulates above the chest. Real phlegm interacts with heat, stirring up internal wind. When wind disturbs the heart, it causes oppression and dizziness. Hence it is called wind-xuan mao. In adults, it is termed Dian; in children, Xian. Thus, wind-xuan and epilepsy are essentially the same disease. It is unknown why later generations divided it into three categories. I have therefore divided it into three sections and provided explanations to clarify the doubts of contemporary physicians.

Measure horizontally across the mouth from corner to corner to get the mouth's width in cun. Take one end of this rope and measure from the nose to the ends of both nostrils to get the nose's width in cun. Fold the rope in half to obtain half the nose width.
Fold this length in half again within the total mouth width measurement. First, locate the whorl of hair on the head and apply moxibustion there. Extend to the left, right, front, and back, applying moxibustion where the rope ends align. Face forward as the reference. Determine the number of moxa cones based on age. Perform moxibustion three times a year. Wait until the previous moxa blister heals before proceeding. The number of cones remains as described. If there are multiple hair whorls, choose the one closest to the nose. Whorls near the forehead are also suitable for moxibustion.
Treatment for various types of wind-induced vertigo. Acupoint: Xinhui (GV22), moxibustion 7 cones. For True Headache, the pain penetrates upward through Fengfu (GV16) and invades the Nidan Palace (brain). It cannot be cured by medicine. Death occurs if onset is in the evening and morning comes; death occurs on the day if onset is in the morning. This is because the head is the root of the human body; once Qi is severed, death ensues.
