The activation of mineral drugs (Shishi, mineral-based prescriptions) has specific formulas to address the symptoms. Although there are cases where the disease progression is abnormal and cannot be cured by various medicines, alternative methods are recorded for reference.
Formulas
Weirui Jiu (Cordis Polygonati Odorati Wine, from *Shengji Zonglu*) treats the activation of mineral drugs when other medicines are ineffective.
Cordis Polygonati Odorati (Weirui), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), Shepherd's Purse (Ji), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen) (each 3 liang); Rheum Palmatum Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang) (crushed and stir-fried), Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi Ren), Natrii Sulfas (Mangxiao), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (roasted and crushed, each 2 liang); Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin); Pig lard (Zhi, made in the twelfth lunar month, 3 liang); Pure wine (Wuhui jiu, 2 sheng).

Douchi Jiu (Fermented Soybean Wine, from *Shenghui Fang*) treats the activation of mineral drugs when other medicines are ineffective.
Pure wine (2 sheng), Fermented soybeans (Douchi, 5 he). Boil together until hot, clarify while hot, and drink one cup promptly for good effect.
Treats mineral drug activation with heat distress, when other medicines are ineffective (from *Shenghui Fang*).
Pig lard (5 cheng, refined), Natrii Sulfas (Mangxiao, 4 fen). Add water 3 sheng, add 5 he of scallion white (cut), and 3 he of fermented soybean heart. Boil together to obtain 1 sheng.
Treats mineral drug activation when other treatments fail to cure (from *Shengji Zonglu*).

Therefore
Initially, taking medicinal substances follows the order: first herbal plants (Caomu), then minerals (Shi). This is the general principle of medication. It implies substituting coarse elements with refined ones, progressing from coarse to fine. From youth to adulthood, one rests from grains (Wugu, staple cereals). One cannot abruptly abandon them overnight. Taking medicine yields benefits that are slow and subtle; thus, it does not provide immediate satiety. However, accumulating over years without cessation eventually fills the marrow. Only then can grains be naturally discontinued. Nowadays, people often expect results within days or months, seeking immediate effects. Before the zang-fu organs are sufficiently filled, they cut off grain intake. The removed medicines are unused. Their clothing, diet, form, and spirit remain indistinguishable from the secular world. Thus,弊端 arise. Is this not deviant? The general practice of ingesting medicinal substances has a sequence. Those who do not know the method not only suffer mutual damage but ultimately fail to gain its efficacy. Therefore, the major law of ingestion must first eliminate the Three Worms (San Chong). Once the Three Worms are removed, take herbal grasses (Caoyao) to acquire medicinal power. Then take herbal trees (Muyao) to fully utilize the power. Finally, take mineral drugs (Shiyao). Following this sequence allows one to comply with the nature of the drugs, ensuring stability and longevity.
Ji Kang discussed health preservation, stating: Some say immortals can be learned, and immortality achieved through effort. He also said: A maximum lifespan of 120 years is common throughout history. Exceeding this leads to
Immortal status.
Jinbi Cantong (Golden Jade Unity) represents the way of health preservation and longevity. All are one path. To claim that immortals cannot be learned is incorrect. The Yellow Emperor asked Guangchengzi about the Dao. Guangchengzi said: Do not look, do not listen. Let your spirit be tranquil. Your form will naturally rectify. Be still and pure. Do not exhaust your form. Do not agitate your essence. Thus, you can achieve long life. The so-called Dao is merely this. As for refining elixirs, guiding and pressing (Daoyin Anqiao), and swallowing qi while abstaining from grains (Fqi Bigu), these are all practices not abandoned by the art of becoming immortal.
