Generally speaking, goiter and tumors (Ying Liu) are mostly caused by unregulated emotions of joy and anger, as well as excessive worry and thought. Generally, the circulation of Qi and Blood in the human body should ideally be free from stagnation. However, swollen goiters and general goiters should not be easily incised or ruptured; if ruptured, it may lead to the collapse and loss of pus and blood, often resulting in premature death. Among the six types of tumors, lipomas can be incised, and after removing the fatty matter, they will heal. The other five types of tumors should not be lightly incised or ruptured; caution is required.

Stagnation of Qi and Blood condenses to form goiters and tumors. Goiters arise from worry and grief, attaching to the shoulder and neck area, with loose and non-tight skin, hanging down like a hammer blow. Tumors are formed where Qi remains stagnant. Those where tendons are prominent are called tendon goiters (Jin Ying); those with intersecting red blood vessels are called blood goiters (Xue Ying); those that fluctuate with emotional states are called qi goiters (Qi Ying); and those that are hard and immobile are called stone goiters (Shi Ying). These are the five names for goiters. The first is bone tumor (Gu Liu), the second is lipoma (Zhi Liu), the third is flesh tumor (Rou Liu), the fourth is abscess/pus tumor (Nong Liu), the fifth is blood tumor (Xue Liu), and the sixth is stone tumor (Shi Liu). These are the six species of tumors. Although goiters and tumors are generally painless and itchless, they must never be incised or ruptured; once ruptured, pus and blood will leak continuously, making them difficult to cure.

[Haizao Wan (Seaweed Pill)]
Haizao (Algae, washed to remove saltiness, dried, 1 liang), Haige (Clam Shell), Songluo (Lichen, each 7 qian 5 fen, ground), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Guanzi Gui (Cinnamon Twig), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma).
Made into pills the size of a bullet. Take an appropriate amount each time.

[Chuanying Wan (Goiter-Piercing Pill)]
Treats hardened nodules of goiter and tumors.
Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla, 2 liang), Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed, peeled and cored, ground), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, oil removed, each 1 liang), Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Kunbu (Laminariae Thallus, desalted), Helile (Terminalia Chebula Retz.).

[Haizao San (Seaweed Powder)]
Treats goiter and tumors.
Haizao (Algae, washed to remove saltiness, baked, 1 liang 1 qian), Kunbu (Laminariae Thallus, washed to remove saltiness, baked, 1 liang 5 qian), Baifuling (Poria, black skin removed, 0.5 liang), Haige (Clam Shell, ground).
Take 3 qian with wine. Take one dose at midnight.

[Treatment Formula for Tumors]
Kunbu (Laminariae Thallus, washed to remove saltiness, baked, 2 liang), Guixin (Cinnamon Bark), Niliushui (Reverse-flowing Water), Liuxu (Willow Catkins, each 1 liang), Haizao (Algae, washed to remove saltiness, baked), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, each 2 liang).
Avoid five pungent spices and damp foods.

[Haige San (Clam Shell Powder)]
Treats goiter and tumors.
Haige (Clam Shell, ground), Haizao (马尾-shaped Algae, washed to remove saltiness), Baifuling (Poria, black skin removed), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, boiled for 1 liang, washed to remove slipperiness, sliced, baked).
Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 cun).
Decoct with 5 bowls of water until 1.5 bowls remain. Divide into three doses. For each dose, mix with 2 qian bi of powder. Take before retiring to bed. Men take four doses; women take eight doses. Follow with pill medication.

[Chudu Wan (Toxin-Removing Pill)]
Treats goiter and tumors. Should be taken after Haige San.
Badou (Crotonis Fructus, threaded with iron string, roasted to remove heart/core, used), Dahuangmo (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma powder, each 0.5 liang). Grind all ingredients into fine powder. On the Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Day), wrap in Zongzi leaves to make pills the size of mung beans. Take on an empty stomach with cold tea.

[Lianke Wan (Shell-Included Pill)]
Treats qi tumors and goiters.
Lianke (Castanea mollissima shell, lightly stir-fried, 2 liang), Shiliupi (Pomegranate Peel, vinegar-baked), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, processed, each 3 qian 5 fen), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, bran-fried, pulp removed, 1 liang). Grind into powder, add more...
Take 30 units with drinking soup.

[Zhu Ye San (Pig Facelet Powder)]
Treats qi tumor goiter.
Zhu ye (Pig facelets/tonsils, 21 pieces), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed to remove slipperiness, 22 pieces). Grind into powder. Each time, take 1 qian bi mixed with warm wine. Take before retiring to bed while bowing the head.

[Haizao Jiu Fang (Seaweed Wine Recipe)]
Treats sudden nodules under the neck that gradually enlarge, intending to become tumor/goiter.
Use Haizao (Algae, washed to remove saltiness, 1 jin), steep in 2 sheng of wine overnight. Take 3 he of the liquid to drink. When the wine is finished, dry the Haizao, grind into powder, mix with wine to take 1 qian. Take three times a day until recovered. If soaking, use a silk bag. Soak for two days in spring and summer, three days in autumn and winter.

[Liu Gen Jiu (Willow Root Wine)]
Treats tumors and goiters.
Use 3 jin of Willow roots (Liugen), specifically those exposed to dew along the water path. Add 1 dou of water, boil down to 5 sheng. Use 3 sheng of rice to ferment. Once the wine is ready, take half a sheng each time.

[Treatment for Goiter/Tumor Ghost Qi Zhu Disease]
Treats goiter/tumor, ghost qi, and zhuan disease.
Grind Qianxi (Lead-Tin alloy) into powder, mix with clear oil, and apply topically.
