瘿病，是由于忧愁愤懑导致气机郁结而形成的。也称为“饮沙水”，即沙子随着气进入血脉，搏结于颈部下方而形成肿块。初起时与瘿核相似。
形成瘿病
对于气瘿，可以采用针刺治疗。《养生方》记载：在山水黑土中，有泉水流出的地方，不宜久居，经常食用那里的水土容易使人患上瘿病，这会扰动气机并加重病情。

这种瘿病没有根基，浮动在皮肤之中。当地妇女患此病较多，因为肾气充实，沙石的性质与肾相合，导致肾脏实证，从而引发瘿病。北方妇女饮用含沙石的水后，产后乳汁分泌非常困难，如果不通过针刺排出则无法缓解，因此有些家庭因此未能挽救患者，原因就在于此。
凡是瘿囊胀闷，《养生论》说：两山夹峙之地，那里的人多患瘿病；土壤肥沃、水深之处，那里的人也多患瘿病。这是地势造成的。这种情况可以服用人参化瘿丹，使其自行消散。治疗瘿病的药物多用海藻、海带，其味属咸寒。
《儒门事亲书》记载：新寨有一位妇人，四十多岁，患有三瓣状的瘿病。戴人（张从正）用盐催吐的方法治疗。经过三次涌吐、三次发汗、三次泻下，瘿病消除了一半。随后服用化瘿的药物，于是完全消除。大凡病位在上的，都适宜使用吐法，但这自有其权衡运用的方法。
方剂
【化瘿丹】
治疗瘿病。
海藻、海带、昆布、泽泻、木通、猪靥、羊靥（各五枚）、海蛤、连翘。以上药材研为细末，将猪靥和羊靥研磨后制成丸药。
【疗瘿方】
昆布（六分，洗去咸味）、海藻（七分，洗去咸味）、松萝、干姜、桂心（各四分）、通草（五分）。以上药材，饮少许酒送服，直至痊愈。
【又方】
治疗颈部下方突然结成硬核，即将形成瘿病的情况。
昆布（洗去咸味）、海藻（洗去咸味，各一斤）。以上药材细细切碎，用好酒五升浸泡七天，根据量力取数服用。酒要每天加热四五次。
【木通散】
治疗颈部下方突然结成囊状，即将形成瘿病的情况。
木通（锉碎）、海藻、昆布（各洗去咸味）、松萝、桂心、蛤蚧（涂酥炙至微黄）、白蔹、琥珀（各等分）。
【海藻散】
治疗瘿病。
海藻（八两，洗去咸味）、贝母（二两）、土瓜根（二分）、小麦面（二分，炒制）。以上药材研为散剂，用酒送服一方寸匕。
【昆布丸】
治疗各种瘿病，不论新久。
昆布（洗去咸味一两）、海藻（洗去咸味一两）、小麦（用好醋煮干一两）。以上药材研为细末，用炼蜜调和制成如梧桐子大小的丸药。
【治瘿项方】

【治疗忽生瘿病一二年者】
使用万州产的黄药子三斤，以质地紧密沉重者为上品，如果轻虚则是其他州产的，药效就慢。必须用无灰酒一斗，将药投入其中，用泥密封瓶口，用糠火煨烧一顿饭的时间，停火冷却，让患者时时饮用一盏，不要断绝酒气。三天后，常照镜子自看，感觉瘿肿消退就停止服药，否则会使人的脖子变细。旁边的糠火不可堆得太多，当烧出酒气香味，瓶口有津液渗出时，就停止加热，不必等到过夜。此法已验证如神。忌食有毒食物。

Ying disease (Goiter), arises from the stagnation of Qi due to sorrow and indignation. It is also referred to as "drinking sandy water," where sand enters the meridians along with Qi, combats and accumulates in the lower neck, forming a mass. Initially, it resembles Ying nuclei (lumps).
Formation of Ying
For Qi Ying (Qi-type goiter), acupuncture can be employed. The *Yangsheng Fang* states: In areas of black soil near mountains and waters where springs flow, one should not dwell for long periods. Regular consumption of the local water and soil can induce Ying disease, disturbing Qi and exacerbating the condition.
This is Ying Disease
This type of Ying lacks a root and floats within the skin. Women in this region suffer from it frequently because their Kidney Qi is substantial; the nature of sand and stones combines with the Kidney, causing Kidney excess, thus leading to Ying disease. Women in the north who drink sandy water often find lactation extremely difficult postpartum; without acupuncture to discharge it, relief is impossible. Consequently, some families have failed to save patients due to this reason.
Regarding the distension and fullness of Ying sacs, the *Yangsheng Lun* states: People living between two夾峙 mountains often suffer from Ying disease; those in areas with rich soil and deep water also frequently suffer from Ying disease. This is caused by the geographical terrain. In such cases, one may take Renshen Huaying Dan (Ginseng Goiter-Resolving Pill) to resolve it spontaneously. Medicines for treating Ying mostly use Haizao (Sargassum) and Haidai (Kelp), which are salty and cold in nature.
The *Rumen Shiqin Shu* records: A woman in Xinzhai, over forty years old, had a tri-lobed Ying. Dai Ren (Zhang Congzheng) treated her with salt-induced emesis. After three rounds of vomiting, sweating, and purging, half of the Ying was resolved. Subsequently, she took medicines to resolve Ying, leading to its complete disappearance. Generally, diseases located in the upper body are suitable for emetic therapy, but there are specific methods for weighing and applying them appropriately.

[Huaying Dan]
Treats Ying disease.
Haizao (Sargassum), Haidai (Kelp), Kunbu (Laminaria), Zexie (Alisma), Mutong (Akebia), Zhu Ye (Pig thyroid), Yang Ye (Sheep thyroid) (each 5 pieces), Hai Ge (Clam shell), Lianqiao (Forsythia). Grind the above herbs into fine powder. Grind the pig and sheep thyroids and form pills.
[Liao Ying Fang]
Kunbu (6 fen, washed to remove salinity), Haizao (7 fen, washed to remove salinity), Songluo (Dendrochiopsis), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig), Tongcao (Tetrapanax) (each 4 fen). Take with a small amount of wine until recovery.

Mutong (chopped), Haizao, Kunbu (each washed to remove salinity), Songluo, Guixin, Gejie (Gecko, prepared with butter and roasted until slightly yellow), Bailian (Pueraria lobata root), Hupo (Amber) (equal parts).

Treats Ying disease.
Haizao (8 liang, washed to remove salinity), Beimu (Fritillaria), Tugua Gen (Trichosanthes kirilowii root), Xiaomai Mian (Wheat flour, roasted) (each 2 fen). Grind into powder. Take one cun bi (measure) with wine.
[Kunbu Wan]
Treats all types of Ying disease, regardless of new or old onset.
Kunbu (1 liang, washed to remove salinity), Haizao (1 liang, washed to remove salinity), Xiaomai (Wheat grain, boiled dry in good vinegar, 1 liang). Grind into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of wutong seeds.

[Treatment for Sudden Onset Ying lasting One to Two Years]
Use 3 jin of Huangyaozi (Dioscorea bulbifera) from Wanzhou. Choose dense and heavy specimens; light ones from other regions are less effective. Pour 1 dou of non-ash wine into the medicine, seal the bottle mouth with mud, and simmer over chaff fire for the duration of a meal. Let it cool. Have the patient drink one zhan (cup) occasionally, ensuring the aroma of wine is never absent. After three days, check regularly in the mirror. Stop drinking when reduction is felt; otherwise, the neck may become too thin. Do not pile too much chaff around the fire. Stop heating when the aroma of wine emerges and moisture appears at the bottle neck, without waiting overnight. This method is verified as miraculous. Avoid toxic foods.
[Liao Ying Fang]
