身热疼重。而脉微弱。此以夏月伤冷水。水行皮中所致也。此汤主之。
治暴黄腹胀。遍身如橘子色。小便不利。并天行温热病。瘀热在里。头汗出。身

以东行母猪粪一升。宿浸。去滓顿服。
（附论）
热病导致发黄，全身及面目均呈现黄色，遍体疼痛，心中烦乱且高热，肩项部疼痛且僵硬，腰背部拘急不舒。这是由于寒气在体表，导致热气蓄积于脾胃，腠理（皮肤毛孔）闭塞不开，瘀热郁结在内，宿食停滞郁蒸，无法消化，从而导致大小便不通畅。因此身体和面目都变成黄色。凡是出现发黄的病症，如果寸口脉（手腕桡动脉处）近掌根处摸不到脉搏，口鼻气息寒冷，都是不可治愈的征象，必定死亡。
方剂
犀角散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病、黄疸、热渴，以及因饮酒过度劳损引起的胸满气促，皮肤逐渐变黄如金色。
药材：犀角屑（一两）、葛根（三分，锉碎）、通草、人参（去除芦头）、柴胡（去除苗，各一两）、知母、蓝叶、桔梗（去除芦头）、桑根白皮（锉碎）、秦艽（去除苗）、赤茯苓（各三分）。以上药物研为散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎至五分水量，去渣，加入竹沥一合，搅拌均匀，不限时候，温服。
茵陈散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病、黄疸、目黄如金，小便如血色，心中烦躁闷乱，口苦头痛。
药材：茵陈、栀子仁（各三分）、木通、甘草（半两，炙微红后锉碎）、栝蒌根（一两）、麦门冬（一两半，去心焙干）、柴胡（一两，去苗）、秦艽（一两，去苗）。以上药物研为散剂。每次服用五钱，用水一大盏，加入竹叶三十七片，煎至五分水量，去渣，不限时候，温服。
龙胆散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病、黄疸、热渴，额头出汗，手足发热，小便赤涩。
药材：龙胆草（一两，去芦头）、川升麻（半两）、麦门冬（三分，去心）、犀角屑（一两）、甘草（半两，炙微红后锉碎）、栀子仁（半两）。以上药物研为散剂。每次服用五钱，用水一盏，加入生姜半分，煎至五分水量，去渣，加入生地一合，再煎煮一两沸，不限时候，温服。
麦门冬散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病，面目俱黄，心腹坚硬胀满气急，精神恍惚，言语错乱颠倒。
药材：麦门冬（一两半，去心焙干）、茵陈（一两）、栀子仁、川升麻、川大黄（锉碎微炒）、黄芩、大青（各半两）、川芒硝（一两）。以上药物研为散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎至六分水量，去渣，不限时候。
黄连散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病，黄疸遍及全身，面目全部发黄。
药材：黄连（去须）、大青、栀子仁、茵陈、柴胡（去苗）、黄芩、地骨皮、川芒硝、甘草（炙微红后锉碎，各半两）。以上药物研为粗散。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎至六分水量，去渣，不限时候，温服。
茵陈散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗黄疸，遍身皆黄。
药材：茵陈、栝蒌根、川升麻、龙胆草（去芦头，各二两）、寒水石（三分）、甘草（一分，炙微红后锉碎）。以上药物研为粗散。每次服用五钱，用水一大盏，煎至五分水量，去渣，加入地黄汁半合，再煎煮一沸，不限时候，温服。

栀子仁散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗遍身黄如橘色，心胁部胀满急迫。
药材：栀子仁、黄芩、柴胡（去苗）、川升麻、龙胆草、川大黄（锉碎微炒，各一两）、栝蒌根（一枚，干者）、川芒硝（二两）、甘草（半两，炙微红后锉碎）。以上药物研为粗散。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，加入葱白两茎，煎至六分水量，去渣，不限时候，温服。
苦参散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病多有内瘀，即成黄疸。如果用瓜蒂散吹入鼻中，令黄汁流出后多能痊愈。忽然恶寒战栗随即发黄，皮肤如黄尘溢出，小便赤少，大便时常闭结，体力有异，饮食无碍，余热不除久黄不退者。
药材：苦参（锉碎）、黄连（去须）、甜葶苈（隔纸炒至紫色）、黄芩、川大黄（锉碎微炒，各半两）、瓜蒂（一分）、黄柏（一分，锉碎）。以上药物研为细散。每次用粥饮调服二钱，不拘时候。
茵陈丸（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病发黄病。
药材：茵陈（半两）、恒山（一分）、栀子仁、鳖甲（涂醋炙令微黄，去裙襕）、川朴硝、川大黄（锉碎微炒）、木香、犀角屑、杏仁（汤浸去皮尖双仁，麸炒微黄，锉研如膏，各一两）、川升麻、巴豆（一分，去皮心，研，纸裹压去油）。以上药物研为末，加入杏仁、巴豆，同研均匀，炼蜜调和捣三二百杵，制成梧桐子大小的丸药。每次空腹，煎乌梅汤送下三丸。约人行十里路的时间，若出现腹泻、出汗或呕吐即为有效。如果未见效，再服三丸。
猪膏发煎方（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病各种黄疸。
药材：猪膏（八钱）、乱发（如鸡蛋大二枚）。将猪膏放入铛中，煎至头发完全消融，研磨绞取汁液去渣。不限时候，分为四次服用。约人行五里路再服一次。服尽则病邪从小便排出。
瓜蒂散（出自《圣惠方》），治疗热病毒侵入脏腑，深入骨髓之间，或者成为黄疸、黑疸、赤疸、白疸、谷疸、马黄等疾病，喘急片刻不停。又治疗酒疸，脉浮腹满欲呕，适宜用吐法。
药材：瓜蒂（二七枚）、赤小豆（二七枚，炒熟）、秫米（二七粒）。以上药物研为细散，取如大豆粒大小，吹入鼻中，当有黄水流出为效。另一方法为研末，每次服用半钱，米饮送下，以呕吐为度。
又一方（出自《圣惠方》）
用瓜蒂二七枚，捣碎，用水一中盏，煎至五分水量，去渣温服。又名一物瓜蒂汤。主治太阳中暍（中暑），身体发热疼痛沉重，而脉微弱，这是夏季受冷水伤害，水气行于皮中所致。此汤主治。
治暴发性黄疸腹胀，遍身如橘子色，小便不利，以及天行温热病，瘀热在里，头汗出，身无汗，烦渴饮水，小便赤涩，发黄手足冷方。（旅舍备要方）
药材：枳壳（麸炒去瓤一两）、大黄（三分）、肥栀子（十四枚）、茵陈蒿（去枝梗六分）。以上药物研为散。每次服用三钱，水一盏半，煎至一盏，去渣，温服。小便应当像皂荚汁一样颜色，黄邪从小便排出。

Jaundice caused by heat disease presents with yellowing of the entire body and face, generalized pain, mental restlessness, and high fever. There is pain and stiffness in the shoulders and neck, and tension and tightness in the lower back. This occurs because cold pathogenic factors are on the exterior, causing heat to accumulate in the Spleen and Stomach. The Cou Li (skin pores) fail to open, leading to stagnant heat within. Retained food stagnates and steams without being digested, resulting in obstruction of urination and defecation. Consequently, the body and face turn yellow. In cases of jaundice, if the pulse at the Cun Kou (radial artery at the wrist) near the palm is imperceptible, and the breath from the mouth and nose is cold, these are signs that the condition is incurable and inevitably fatal.
Formulas
Xijiao San (Rhinoceros Horn Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat disease, jaundice, thirst due to heat, and chest fullness with shortness of breath caused by alcohol-induced fatigue. The skin gradually turns yellow like gold color.
Ingredients: Rhinoceros Horn shavings (1 liang), Puerariae Radix (3 fen, crushed), Tongsao (Tongcao), Ginseng Radix (rhizome removed), Bupleuri Radix (aerial parts removed, each 1 liang), Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, Isatidis Folium, Platycodonis Radix (rhizome removed), Morus Albae Cortex Radicis (crushed), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (aerial parts removed), Polyporus (each 3 fen). Process all ingredients into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Decoct with one zhong zhan (approx. 200-250ml) of water until reduced to five-fifths volume. Strain, add one he (approx. 20ml) of Bamboo Sap, mix well, and take warm at any time.
Yinchen San (Artemisiae Scopariae Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat disease, jaundice with eyes yellow like gold, urine resembling blood, mental restlessness and oppression, bitter taste in the mouth, and headache.
Ingredients: Artemisiae Scopariae Herba, Gardeniae Fructus (each 3 fen), Akebiae Caulis, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (half liang, honey-fried until slightly red, then crushed), Trichosanthis Radix (1 liang), Ophiopogonis Tuber (1.5 liang, heart removed, baked), Bupleuri Radix (1 liang, aerial parts removed), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (1 liang, aerial parts removed). Process all ingredients into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose. Decoct with one da zhan (approx. 300-400ml) of water, adding 37 leaves of Bambusa Leaves (Zhuye), until reduced to five-fifths volume. Strain and take warm at any time.
Longdan San (Gentian Root Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat disease, jaundice, thirst due to heat, sweating on the forehead, heat in hands and feet, and dark, scanty, or painful urination.
Ingredients: Gentianae Radix (1 liang, rhizome removed), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (half liang), Ophiopogonis Tuber (3 fen, heart removed), Rhinoceros Horn shavings (1 liang), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (half liang, honey-fried until slightly red, then crushed), Gardeniae Fructus (half liang). Process all ingredients into a powder. Take 5 qian per dose. Decoct with one zhan (approx. 200ml) of water, adding half a fen of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, until reduced to five-fifths volume. Strain, add one he (approx. 20ml) of Rehmanniae Radix, boil for one additional boil, and take warm at any time.
Ophiopogonis Powder [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat disease with yellowing of the face and eyes, hardness and fullness in the heart and abdomen with急促 breathing, mental confusion, and disordered speech.
Ingredients: Ophiopogonis Tuber (1.5 liang, heart removed, baked), Artemisiae Scopariae Herba (1 liang), Gardeniae Fructus, Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma (crushed, lightly stir-fried), Scutellariae Radix, Lithospermi Radix et Rhizoma (each half liang), Natrii Sulfas (1 liang). Process all ingredients into a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Decoct with one zhong zhan of water until reduced to six-tenths volume. Strain. (Note: Administration method incomplete in source text).
Huanglian San (Coptis Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat disease where jaundice covers the whole body, with complete yellowing of the face and eyes.
Ingredients: Coptidis Rhizoma (fibers removed), Lithospermi Radix et Rhizoma, Gardeniae Fructus, Artemisiae Scopariae Herba, Bupleuri Radix (aerial parts removed), Scutellariae Radix, Lycii Cortex Radicis, Natrii Sulfas, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (honey-fried until slightly red, crushed, each half liang). Process all ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Decoct with one zhong zhan of water until reduced to six-tenths volume. Strain and take warm at any time.
Yinchen San (Artemisiae Scopariae Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats jaundice with yellowing of the entire body.
Ingredients: Artemisiae Scopariae Herba, Trichosanthis Radix, Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (rhizome removed, each 2 liang), Hypostibi (Hanshuishi) (3 fen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (one fen, honey-fried until slightly red, crushed). Process all ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 5 qian per dose. Decoct with one da zhan of water until reduced to five-fifths volume. Strain, add half a he (approx. 10ml) of Rehmanniae Juice, boil once more, and take warm at any time.
Xijiao Yinzi (Rhinoceros Horn Drink) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats Heart Jaundice due to heat toxin attacking the tongue causing stiffness, and yellowing of the eyes.
Ingredients: Rhinoceros Horn shavings, Scutellariae Radix, Gardeniae Fructus, Cimicifugae Rhizoma (each half liang), Artemisiae Scopariae Herba, Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma (crushed, lightly stir-fried), Natrii Sulfas, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (honey-fried until slightly red, crushed, each 3 fen), Sweet Phyllostachys Bambooa Leaves (Tian Zhuye). Process all ingredients into a fine powder. Take half a liang per dose. Decoct with one da zhan of water until reduced to five-fifths volume. Strain and take warm at any time.
Gardeniae Powder [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats general yellowing like orange color, with fullness and urgency in the heart and hypochondrium.
Ingredients: Gardeniae Fructus, Scutellariae Radix, Bupleuri Radix (aerial parts removed), Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma (crushed, lightly stir-fried, each 1 liang), Trichosanthis Radix (one dried fruit), Natrii Sulfas (2 liang), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (half liang, honey-fried until slightly red, crushed). Process all ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Decoct with one zhong zhan of water, adding two stalks of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Congbai), until reduced to six-tenths volume. Strain and take warm at any time.
Kushen San (Sophora Root Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat disease with internal stasis leading to jaundice. If Gouti San is insufflated into the nose to discharge yellow fluid, recovery is likely. For sudden chills followed by jaundice, skin appearing like yellow dust, scanty dark urine, occasional constipation, altered physical strength, normal appetite, persistent residual heat, and chronic jaundice:
Ingredients: Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (crushed), Coptidis Rhizoma (fibers removed), Lepidii Semen (Stir-fried between papers until purple), Scutellariae Radix, Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma (crushed, lightly stir-fried, each half liang), Gouti (one fen), Phellodendri Cortex (one fen, crushed). Process all ingredients into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose mixed with gruel liquid, at any time.
Yinchen Wan (Artemisiae Scopariae Pill) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat disease causing jaundice.
Ingredients: Artemisiae Scopariae Herba (half liang), Metapolygala Radix (one fen), Gardeniae Fructus, Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum (coated with vinegar, fried until slightly yellow, skirt removed), Natrii Sulfas, Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma (crushed, lightly stir-fried), Costi Radix, Rhinoceros Horn shavings, Prunus Armeniaca Semen (soaked in water, peel and pointed end removed, double-kernel, bran-fried until slightly yellow, crushed to paste, each 1 liang), Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Crotonis Fructus (Ba Dou) (one fen, peel and heart removed, ground, wrapped in paper, pressed to remove oil). Grind all ingredients into powder. Mix with Almond and Croton pastes. Knead with refined honey for 300-200 strikes. Form pills the size of Wuzi (Chinese walnut seeds). Take three pills on an empty stomach with decoction of Chinese Plum (Wumei). After walking about ten li, expect diarrhea, sweating, or vomiting as efficacy. If no response, take another three pills.
Zhigao Fa Jian (Pork Fat and Hair Decoction) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats various types of jaundice from heat disease.
Ingredients: Pork Fat (8 qian), Disordered Hair (two pieces the size of a chicken egg). Place pork fat in a pan, cook until hair dissolves completely. Grind, squeeze, and strain. Divide into four doses. Take the next dose after walking about five li. Upon completion, the disease exits via urination.
Gouti San (Melon Peduncle Powder) [from *Shenghui Fang*]: Treats heat toxin penetrating viscera and deep into bone marrow, manifesting as jaundice, black jaundice, red jaundice, white jaundice, grain jaundice, or horse-yellow disease, with sudden severe dyspnea. Also treats wine jaundice with floating pulse, abdominal fullness, and nausea; emesis is indicated.
Ingredients: Gouti (14 pieces), Phaseoli Volubilis Semen (14 pieces, roasted熟), Panicum miliaceum (Shumi) (14 grains). Grind into a fine powder. Take a amount the size of a soybean, insufflate into the nose. Yellow fluid discharge indicates efficacy. Alternative method: Take half a qian of powder orally with rice drink, inducing vomiting as the limit.
Another Formula [from *Shenghui Fang*]
Use 14 pieces of Gouti, crush them, decoct with one zhong zhan of water until reduced to five-fifths volume. Strain and take warm. Also known as Yi Wu Gouti Tang (Single Ingredient Melon Peduncle Decoction). Treats Taiyang Zhongshu (Summerheat Stroke): body heat, pain, and heaviness with a faint pulse. This is caused by injury from cold water in summer, with water qi circulating in the skin. This formula governs it.
Formula for Acute Jaundice with Abdominal Distension, General Orange-Yellow Color, Dysuria, and Tianxing Warm-Heat Disease with Internal Stagnant Heat, Head Sweating, No Body Sweat, Restlessness and Thirst, Dark Scanty Urine, Yellowing with Cold Hands and Feet. [From *Lvshe Beiyao Fang*]
Ingredients: Aurantii Fructus (Zhi Ke) (bran-fried, core removed, 1 liang), Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma (3 fen), Large Gardeniae Fructus (14 pieces), Artemisiae Scopariae Herba (branches and stems removed, 6 fen). Process into a powder. Take 3 qian per dose. Decoct with 1.5 zhan of water until reduced to one zhan. Strain and take warm. Urine should resemble soap pod juice; yellow pathogen exits via urination.
