Zheng and Jia (masses and growths) are diseases caused by the imbalance of cold and heat, indigestion of food, and the struggle between these factors and the Qi of the internal organs. When the lesion is fixed and does not move, it is directly named "Zheng" (fixed mass). If the disease... [Text contains garbled characters: "post-text diet in heart left. Small urgent"]. The *San Yin Fang* states that Zheng, Jia, Ji, and Ju are categorized according to Qi and Blood. Therefore, medical texts state that Zheng and Jia belong to the Liver department, while Ji and Ju belong to the Lung department, which is quite clear. Moreover, the number seven belongs to Fire, corresponding to the Heart, as Blood is generated by the Heart; the number eight belongs to Wood, corresponding to the Liver, as Blood returns to the Liver. Although this is a forced distinction, the principles are not mixed. "Zheng" means hard; hardness makes it difficult to break. "Jia" means false or temporary; it takes shape from external objects. However, the names "Seven Zheng and Eight Jia" are not detailed in classical theories. Although there are seven types such as Dragon, Snake, Turtle, Meat, Hair, Wind, and Rice, these were not originally fixed names but occurred accidentally due to food interactions. As for women's Seven Zheng and Eight Jia, they are formed by damaging the Qi and Blood of the Five Zang organs through internal, external, and non-internal/external causes. Ancient people attributed women's stubborn diseases to the generation of Jia by dragons, etc., but one need not be so rigid. Women's Zheng and Jia all belong to Blood diseases. Names like dragon, snake, fish, and turtle are accidental. They result from mistakenly ingesting certain foods during meals, which remain in the abdominal organs, borrow blood to form themselves, and possess vitality. This is similar to a monk in the Yonghui era who suffered from dysphagia and had an object in his abdomen shaped like a fish, which was a type of Jia. Although the causes of internal and external infections differ, the treatment methods should be classified similarly. This is what is meant by "the doctor's intent." For example, using broken combs to treat Wind Jia, copper filings to treat Dragon Jia, Shen Qu (Medicated Leaven) to treat Rice Jia, and forged stone to treat Hair Jia. There are many such examples in medical discussions, which will not be cited in detail here; students can understand them by analogy.
Sha Wan (Cinnabar Pill): Treats dry blood Qi Zheng and Jia masses. Symptoms include emaciation with yellowish complexion and unbearable pain around the umbilicus and abdomen.
