The Kidney governs the waist and lower limbs. When the Kidney meridian is deficient, it is susceptible to Wind-Cold pathogens. Accumulation of fluid occurs internally; Wind and Water Qi contend with each other, infiltrating the Kidney. The Kidney Qi becomes stagnant internally and cannot circulate freely.
Consequently, coldness and heaviness are felt in the waist and abdomen, as if carrying five thousand coins, resembling sitting in water. The body appears edematous but there is no thirst, urination is normal, and appetite remains unchanged. Over time, this may transform into a Water Disease (Shui Bing), due to Dampness affecting the Kidney.

Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction), also known as Shenzhe Tang (From *Wei Shi Fang*). In the disease of Renzao (Kidney Fixation), the patient feels heavy throughout the body, cold from the waist down, as if walking in water. The condition resembles water retention but without thirst, urination is normal, and appetite is preserved. This is the syndrome. It arises from sweating during labor, causing cold-dampness in both interior and exterior, accumulating over time. Cold pain below the waist and abdominal heaviness, as if carrying five thousand coins.

Avoid consuming Haizao (Sargassum), Songcai (Chinese Cabbage), Taoli (Peaches and Plums), Que Rou (Sparrow Meat), and Suwu (Vinegar products). This is a formula from *Jingxin Lu*: Gancao 1 liang, Ganjiang 2 liang.
