Xi Jiao Wan (Rhinoceros Horn Pill)
Treats deficiency-heat of wind rushing upward to the head and face, tension in the heart system, frequent fright, irritability in the four limbs, coldness in the waist and knees, onset of pathogenic factors, and unsettled spirit. Generally, wind pathogens enter and attack the zang-fu organs due to constitutional weakness and exposure to wind. The manifestation is like being hunted. Heart deficiency leads to fright; Liver deficiency leads to fear. The Foot Jueyin Meridian is the Liver meridian, harmonizing with the Gallbladder. The Foot Shaoyang Meridian is the Gallbladder meridian, governing decision-making for all matters. When the Heart and Liver are deficient and invaded by wind pathogens, and the Gallbladder qi is weak and attacked by wind, thus fright occurs as if being hunted.

Long Gu Tang (Dragon Bone Decoction)
Treats chronic fright and loss of memory, mental trance and forgetfulness, sadness and unhappiness, failure of yang qi to rise.
Long Gu (Dragon Bone), Fu Ling (Poria), Gui Xin (Cinnamon Heart), Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, heart removed, each 1 liang), Mu Li (Oyster Shell, roasted), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, each 3 liang), Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger, 4 liang), Mai Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber).
Du Huo San (Angelica Pubescens Powder) Treats men and women with qi deficiency contracting wind, or fright and panic mutually attacking, causing evil to invade the Liver and Gallbladder, making upper qi fail to maintain its proper position, leading to head shaking, trembling of hands and feet, gradually resulting in blurred vision.
Du Huo (Angelica Pubescens Root), Di Gu Pi (Lycium Bark), Xi Xin (Asarum Root), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Ju Hua (Chrysanthemum Flower), Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, equal parts). Pound the above into powder. Take 3 qian per dose. Use 1.5 zhans of water, decoct to 1 zhan, remove dregs. Take 6 li of clear liquid, add a little Zhu Li (Bamboo Sap), and re-decoct. Warm take after meals. Twice a day. Another method does not use Du Huo, but uses Xuan Fu Hua (Inula Flower).
Fu Ling Tang (Poria Decoction) (from *Shengji Zonglu*)
Treats wind-induced fright and panic with loss of will, feeling as if something is lost, sadness and melancholy.
Bai Fu Ling (Poria, black skin removed), Shu Gan Di Huang (Prepared Dried Rehmannia Root, roasted dry, each 2 liang), Ren Shen (Ginseng Root), Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig, rough bark removed, each 1.5 liang), Mai Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber, heart removed, roasted [missing]).

Treats wind-induced fright and panic, chaotic spirit and soul unable to settle, whether due to fright, worry, terror, and pursuit, or frightful loss of wealth, or agitation, indignation, and melancholy.
Long Gu (Dragon Bone), Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, heart removed), Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, wood removed), Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root, forked parts removed), Mu Li (Oyster Shell, remove black hard parts and break, each 1 liang), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, honey-fried and crushed, half liang).
Coarsely pound and sieve. Take 5 qian per dose. Use 2 zhans of water, 2 Da Zao (Jujubes) pitted. Decoct together, remove dregs. Take 1 zhan. Take once on an empty stomach and once at noon. Take daily until cured.
Fu Shen Wan (Poria with Hostwood Pill) (from *Shengji Zonglu*)
Treats wind-induced fright and panic. Unstable will, insufficiency of the five zang organs, severe cases involve sorrow, fear, sadness, and unhappiness, mental trance and forgetfulness, improving in the morning and worsening in the evening, severe cases involve mania and vertigo.
Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood, wood removed), Chang Pu (Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome, nine-joint type, remove mustache and joints, soak in rice wash water, slice, roast dry), Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, heart removed), Bai Fu Ling (Poria), Ren Shen (Ginseng Root, crushed [missing] 3 fen).

Tie Jing San (Iron Essence Powder)
Treats fright and panic with delirious speech, or seeing evil spirits, mental trance without self-awareness, occurring at times, or resembling stroke.
Tie Jing (Iron Essence), Fu Ling (Poria), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome), Gui Xin (Cinnamon Heart), [missing] Pi (bark, honey-fried, each 3 liang). Pound the above and sieve. Take half qian bi with wine. Three times a day. If ineffective, increase dosage slightly.
Bai Wei Tang (Cynanchum Atratum Decoction) (from *Shengji Zonglu*)
Treats wind-induced fright and panic, pulling and cramping of the four limbs, restlessness of the spirit, or outbreaks of evil mania shouting, running wildly seeing ghosts, resembling epilepsy.
Bai Wei (Cynanchum Atratum Root, roasted dry), Xi Xin (Asarum Root, seedlings and leaves removed, each 1.5 liang), Long Chi (Dragon Teeth, pounded to powder, 3 liang), Xing Ren (Apricot Seed, remove black tips and double kernels, roasted, 80 pieces).

Fu Shen Wan (Poria with Hostwood Pill)
Mainly treats unstable heart qi, insufficiency of the five zang organs, severe cases involve sorrow, sadness, unhappiness, mental trance and liking to forget, improving in the morning and worsening in the evening, improving in the evening and worsening in the morning. Then add Fu Shen (Poria with Hostwood) to name it Fu Shen Wan. Without adding Fu Shen, it is called Ding Zhi Wan (Stabilizing Will Pill). Combine two parts with a small amount. Can combine formulas twice.
Chang Pu (Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome), Yuan Zhi (Polygala Root, heart removed), Fu Ling (Poria, each 2 fen), Ren Shen (Ginseng Root, 3 liang). Pound and sieve. Take 1 cun bi. After meals. Three times a day. Honey-mixed pill.

Fang Feng (Saposhnikovia Root), Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis Root), Da Huang (Rhubarb Root), Mai Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber, each 5 fen, this ingredient one says 5 liang), Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome), Da Dou Juan (Soybean Sprout), Bai Lian (Meadow Sweet Rhizome, each 4 fen, this ingredient one says 2 fen 1 3 liang).
