The *Neijing* states: Wind pathogen and the Yangming channel enter the stomach together, following the meridians upward to the inner canthus of the eye. If the person is emaciated, the exterior will leak (sweat/fluids), leading to Cold-Middle (internal invasion of cold into the zang-fu organs) and tearing.
When wind pathogen invades the body, if the person is emaciated, the interstices (couli) are open and sparse. The wind pathogen takes advantage of the deficiency to enter, causing body fluids to leak out as tears from the eyes.

**Fenxian San (Separate Phlegm-Drool Powder)** (from *Huming Fang*)
Treats sudden collapse and loss of consciousness in men and women due to sudden wind-cold invasion. The origin of this disease must lie in reduced food intake and aversion to the smell of meat, leading to nausea upon eating, and the presence of cold phlegm-drool in the mouth half a year or a year prior. When sudden collapse occurs with loss of consciousness, the complexion turns black, lips turn cyanotic, hands and feet become cold, pulse becomes minute, and the body experiences chills. Upon regaining consciousness, there is heaviness in half the body, difficulty moving, and slurred speech.
*Baijiangcan* (Bombyx Batryticatus, silk removed) *Fuzi* (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, fire-processed, skin removed) *Banxia* (Pinelliae Tuber) *Xixin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) *Huoxiangye* (Pogostemonis Leaf) *Xiongqiong* (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma) *Qianghuo* (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, each yi fen) *Ganjiang* (Dried Ginger Rhizome, san zhu)
If the patient's mouth is open, administer by pouring.
**Toufengqi San (Penetrating Wind-Qi Powder)** (from *Huming Fang*)
Treats sudden collapse and loss of consciousness due to wind-cold invasion. After taking the previous formula to extract phlegm-drool, take this formula at non-typical times. If during wind-stroke there is little phlegm-drool, taking only this formula is sufficient. It is necessary that phlegm-drool is scant or absent before taking only this formula.
*Xixin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) *Huoxiang* (Pogostemonis Herba) *Ganxie* (Scorpio, dried) *Qianghuo* (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) *Baihuashe* (Bungarus multicinctus, soaked in wine for one day and night; when not used typically, roast slowly over low heat with wine until yellow and cooked, remove bones, use only meat) *Duohuo* (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) *Fuzi* (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed, skin removed) *Tianma* (Gastrodiae Rhizoma) *Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) *Haitongpi* (Saposhnikovia Radix? No, likely Pteroceltidis Cortex or similar, but text says Haitongpi - Santalum Album? No, usually Pteroceltidis or similar. WHO term: Saposhnikovia Radix is Qianghuo. Haitongpi is often Pteroceltidis Cortex or related. Let's stick to literal translation or standard if known. Actually Haitongpi is often associated with Pteroceltis tatarinowii or similar. In modern TCM, it's less common. I will use Pteroceltidis Cortex or keep generic.) *Gonggui* (Cinnamomi Cortex, skin removed) *Doukou* (Amomi Fructus Rotundus, each yi fen) *Banxia* (Pinelliae Tuber, si zhu) *Shexiang* (Moschus, yi zhu) *Mahuang* (Ephedrae Herba, nodes removed, ban liang) *Jiangcan* (Bombyx Batryticatus, san zhu, silk removed)
Grind all into fine powder. Mix with Shexiang evenly. Take four qian per dose. Administer with strong decoction of ginger soup on an empty stomach. Cover with blankets; sweating is ideal. If no sweat, feeling like insects crawling in the affected area is also good. If taken regularly, mix one qian with thin ginger soup. After wind-pathogen recedes, if upper Jiao heat is felt, take the subsequent Tiaoshun Zhengqi San.
**Tiaoshun Zhengqi San (Regulating and Harmonizing Healthy Qi Powder)** (from *Huming Fang*)
Treats post-wind-cold invasion where, after taking Toufengqi San, upper Jiao heat is felt. This formula is suitable.
*Mahuang* (Ephedrae Herba, roots and nodes removed) *Qianghuo* (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) *Ziwan* (Asternis Radix) *Beimu* (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, heart removed) *Fangfeng* (Saposhnikoviae Radix, forks removed) *Jiegeng* (Platycodonis Radix) *Juhua* (Chrysanthemi Flos) *Ben* (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma et Radix) *Duohuo* (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) *Xiongqiong* (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma, each yi fen) *Gancao* (Licorice Root, san zhu)
Grind into fine powder. Take two qian eight fen per dose. Add one zhan of water, decoct to seven parts. Strain and take after meals. If large bowel constipation with heat is felt, add Shengma. If large bowel is not constipated or hot, take only three to five mouthfuls at non-typical times. Do not eat arbitrarily to avoid overdose. Adjust dosage according to zang-fu condition.
Treats wind-cold invasion with cyanotic-black complexion, coldness in all bone joints, spasm of both hands, pulling and twitching of sinews and vessels, numbness and coldness of hands and feet, which only relax after seeking warmth from others. This formula is suitable. (from *Huming Fang*)
*Ganjiang* (Dried Ginger Rhizome) *Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) *Caodoukou* (Amomi Fructus Rotundus, skin removed) *Gancao* (Licorice Root, roasted) *Qianghuo* (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) *Duohuo* (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) *Wuzhuyu* (Evodiae Fructus) *Huangjupi* (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) *Gonggui* (Cinnamomi Cortex, skin removed, each yi fen) *Xixin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) *Huoxiang* (Pogostemonis Herba) *Ganxie* (Scorpio, dried, each san zhu) *Banxia* (Pinelliae Tuber, er zhu) *Xiongqiong* (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma) *Baizhu* (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each ban liang)
Grind finely and sieve into powder. Take three qian per dose. Add one zhan of water, boil for one or two boils. Take with dregs on an empty stomach. If body does not feel warm and sinews/vessels do not extend, take another dose.
Treats wind-cold invasion with accumulation of cold phlegm-drool, causing coma and unconsciousness, eyes tightly closed unable to open, vomiting and nausea, inability to retain food, heaviness of whole body, deep and hidden pulse, inability to stand, dizziness, palpitations, sensation of house spinning, sensation of a cold object descending from throat to heart, sensation of an object beating against throat from front of heart, followed by sudden collapse and loss of consciousness. These are caused by wind-cold and cold phlegm-drool. This formula is suitable. (from *Huming Fang*)
*Changpu* (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) *Xixin* (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) *Xiongqiong* (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma) *Fangfeng* (Saposhnikoviae Radix) *Qianghuo* (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) *Ganjiang* (Dried Ginger Rhizome) *Gonggui* (Cinnamomi Cortex) *Duohuo* (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix) *Banxia* (Pinelliae Tuber, each yi fen) *Wuzhuyu* (Evodiae Fructus, si zhu) *Nanjiao* (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, seeds removed, san zhu) *Qianniu* (Pharbitidis Semen, ban liang)
First pound Qianniu and Banxia together separately. Pound the remaining herbs together separately. Grind both into fine powder. Take six qian per dose: two qian of Qianniu/Banxia powder and four qian of other herb powder mixed together. Administer with hot water, consuming with dregs. If no vomiting, take another dose after walking one or two li. If still no vomiting after walking one li, take another dose. If still no vomiting, stimulate throat with finger to induce vomiting of phlegm-drool. If neither vomited nor passed down, it is incurable.
