[Classified as Upper Grade in the *Shennong Bencao Jing*]
【Flavor and Nature】Sweet, sour, cold, non-toxic.

【Verification】It is stated: Kongqing originates from the valleys of Yizhou and Yuexue. Currently, it is also produced in Weizhou, Lanzhou, Xuanzhou, and Zizhou. The Kongqing produced in Shangrao resembles Zhongruishi (Stalactite); those that are flaky and contain purple luster are considered superior. Those from Yandao in Shu and Beidai Mountain are also good. The *Yudong Yaojue* states: Kongqing receives the essence of Geng-Xin Metal and Red Metal, along with the Yin spiritual energy of Jia-Yi. It is often found near famous springs, retaining moisture over time. When first extracted from Kan (North/Water element), it contains liquid inside like broth, tasting sweet and sour; after a long period, it dries out, resembling linked pearls with shining golden stars. The *Gengxin Yuce* states: It grows mostly within Jin-Kan, generating endlessly, thus turning green into cinnabar red. Some are fist-sized or egg-shaped, having obtained the hollow air, containing liquid like oil; those from copper pits are also excellent but only suitable for painting. There are also Shiqing (Malachite) and Yangmeiqing (Bayberry Green), which are of the same origin but differ in texture refinement. For alchemical processing, Zengqing is best, Kongqing is second, and Yangmeiqing is third. However, those that are solid and round like beads are unusable. Processing methods vary according to prescriptions: soaked in wine, mixed with vinegar, and processed before it can undergo transformation. It opposes Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen).
Mr. Wang Shaolong said: Its green color corresponds to Wood in the Five Elements, so it enters the Liver meridian. Its function is to brighten the eyes because the Liver governs vision. However, the divine light of the pupil is specifically governed by...
[ ] states: Kongqing is the essence of Yellow-Red Copper Ore. Generally, Metal is located in the West in the Five Elements; Yellow represents Earth among the five metals, and Red represents Fire among the five metals. The *Zaohua Zhinan* states: Zi Yang Qi generates Green, Qing Yang Qi generates Cyan. Kongqing is the enlightened form of Shilv (Green Stone). The Yellow Emperor said: Qing Yang Qi ascends to the upper orifices. Since the Liver opens into the eyes, it benefits the Liver, brightens the eyes, clears blindness, and unblocks the Nine Orifices. Promoting blood circulation occurs because all meridians connect to the eyes; nourishing the spirit occurs because the Heart stores Shen (Spirit) and the Kidney stores Jing (Essence), relying on the interaction of Metal and Wood, and the union of Water and Fire. Thus, Kongqing is named according to its functions.
