\r刘寄奴\pq37a1.bmp\r
\r甘蕉根\pq37a.bmp\r

)
\r苎麻根\pq37.bmp\r
Cang Er Zi (Xanthii Fructus)
The medicinal qi ascends to the top of the head and extends outward to the skin. Because it can induce sweating to dispel Wind, it can unblock Bi syndrome (obstruction causing pain) and dissipate Dampness. For Bi Yuan (nasal sinusitis with purulent discharge) and headache, it relies on its bitter descending function. For scabies and itchy sores, it relies on its dispersing, acrid, and warm-natured properties. (This herb Cang Er Zi can ascend and descend, is good at inducing sweating, has an acrid and bitter taste with a warm nature, specifically enters the Lung and Spleen meridians, treats Wind-Damp Bi syndrome, necrotic muscle, scabies, etc., and is effective whether taken internally or used externally for washing. When Bi Yuan initially arises due to Upper Jiao Damp-Heat, using this herb's acrid dispersion and bitter drainage makes it treatable.)
Liu Ji Nu (Artemisiae Annuae Herba)
It breaks blood stasis, promotes blood circulation, and expels water retention. With an acrid and bitter taste and slightly warm nature, it harmonizes injuries, reduces swelling, and regulates menstruation. Its action reaches both the Liver and Spleen. (Liu Ji Nu is bitter and acrid, slightly warm, enters the Liver and Spleen meridians, specifically governs breaking blood stasis and directing Qi downward, as well as swelling caused by blood transforming into water; all such conditions can be treated. For traumatic injuries, fractures, and dislocations, both external application and internal administration are miraculous.)
Ban Lan Gen (Isatidis Radix)
It wards off pestilence, detoxifies, and cools the Blood. It drives away epidemics, dispels pathogenic factors, and kills parasites. Its efficacy concludes in the Liver and Stomach, with a bitter and cold nature that descends Heat. (Ban Lan Gen is the root of Indigofera tinctoria, also known as Dian Qing Gen. Its functions and properties are identical to Dian Ye (Indigo Leaf). It can enter the Blood aspect of the Liver and Stomach meridians, serving only four purposes: clearing heat, detoxifying, warding off epidemics, and killing parasites. However, leaves primarily disperse while roots primarily descend; this is the difference within their similarities. Another claim states it is Ma Lan Gen (Kalimeris indica root), but it is unknown which is correct.)
Gan Jiao Gen (Musa Basjoo Rhizoma)
Externally applied to reduce swelling, it dissipates heat toxins and belongs to a Yin-Cold nature. Internally taken to clear vexation, it stops Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst) and eliminates mental restlessness. Its function travels through the Lung and Stomach; its sweet taste can preserve Yin fluids. (Gan Jiao Gen has a sweet taste and is greatly cold, also known as Ba Jiao, which is the Gan Lu planted by households. It mainly treats wasting-thirst, heat mania, and all kinds of toxicity from metals, stones, and elixirs, which can be drunk after crushing into juice. Externally applied to carbuncles, swellings, accumulated heat, Ding Du (carbuncle toxin spreading), and Shihuo Hou Bi (excess fire throat obstruction), its heat-draining and detoxifying power can be imagined.)
Zhu Ma Gen (Boehmeriae Radix)
It benefits Yin and cools the Blood. To calm the fetus, it relies on its heat-reducing function. It lubricates orifices and promotes urination to relieve strangury; treating diseases generally does not depart from its descending nature. It has a sweet and cold taste and is non-toxic. It enters the Pericardium and Small Intestine. (Zhu Ma Gen is sweet and cold, nourishes Yin, and is skilled at lubricating orifices and cooling the Blood. It is also suitable for cases where there is Damp-Heat in the Blood aspect. Generally, fetal movement due to instability is mostly caused by Blood Heat, though some cases are due to injured Blood and stasis. The meaning of calming the fetus lies precisely here.)
