Hair (pronounced *bì*, from *Shennong Bencao Jing*): Indicated for five types of strangury (*wulong*), obstruction of *Guan Ge* leading to difficulty in urination and blockage of the water passages; treats epilepsy in children and adults, possessing the efficacy of "returning to restore spiritual transformation" (referring to a mystical or restorative effect). (The text in red characters is from the original *Shennong Bencao Jing*). Decocted with egg yolk until transformed into water, it treats childhood convulsive fever. (The text in black characters is recorded by famous physicians. Tao Hongjing stated: Li Yun believed this referred to the miraculous powers of hair from virgin boys and girls, but no other prescriptions were found. Currently, commonly used hair refers to loose hair shed by fathers while combing. It is unknown what specific type of hair " " denotes, as the character is absent from dictionaries, or it might be written as "suan". Nowadays, people refer to alopecia areata as "suan fa".) *Yanyi* states: " " and loose hair are two distinct types. " " has a bitter taste, referring to hair that has aged over years, similar to how dried tangerine peel (*Chenpi*) is preferred over fresh. Wild Dittany Root (*Radix Stellerae Chamaejasme*), Ephedra Herb (*Ephedrae Herba*), Chinese Evodia Fruit (*Evodiae Fructus*), Pinellia Tuber (*Pinelliae Rhizoma*), and Aurantium Fruit (*Aurantii Fructus*) must all be aged, known as the "Six Aged Medicinals," which are more effective in prescriptions. Dried Cattail Pollen (*Typhae Pollen*) is similar. This explains the rationale for using " ". Nowadays, people also call it "tou ", whereas the entry for loose hair naturally does not include the meaning of " ". These two meanings are clear, and there is no need for such excessive speculation. ○ Note: The above three explanations differ and lack theoretical basis. Upon examination, this is incorrect. Examining the poem "Feng Xie Lao" in the *Book of Songs*: "Hair like clouds, I do not use wigs." (Wig/Di, pronounced *dì*). This implies that when one is young and has beautiful natural hair, there is no need to use false hair for decoration. Observing this, it is indeed correct that this refers to what is now used to bind and decorate hair, commonly called "tou ".
