止血。酒化水化童便和用。得火良。山药为使。畏大黄。

Bitter. Enters the Foot-Jueyin Meridian (Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin). Its function is specifically to clear the Heart and transform heat, resolve phlegm, and cool to calm fright. When combined with Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn) or Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn) and Zhusha (Cinnabar), it treats various types of fright in children.
It acts as an assistant herb when combined with Renshen (Ginseng). It is incompatible with Changshan (Dichroa Root), Dihuang (Rehmannia Root), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Longgu (Fossilized Bones). It works well when combined with Danpi (Moutan Bark) and Shichangpu (Acorus Rhizome).
Sweet and neutral. Enters the Hand-Shaoyin (Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin), Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney Meridian of Foot-Shaoyin), and Jueyin (Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin) meridians. Its function is specifically to nourish Yin. It treats various blood disorders and carbuncles/sores, moistens dryness, and unblocks the large intestine. When combined with four slices of Chanshanjia (Pangolin Scales) calcined to retain their properties, it treats early-stage carbuncles and sores, preventing the toxin from attacking inward with miraculous efficacy. The gelatin must be dissolved instantly in wine. If used for early-stage inguinal abscesses, dissolving the gelatin in water and applying it topically causes immediate resolution. This refers to Niujiaojiao (Ox Hoof Gelatin).
Acrid and cold. Enters the Foot-Yangming Meridian (Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming). Its function is specifically to kill parasites. When combined with Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), it treats retrograde vomiting and dysphagia. When washed with Ginger Juice, it treats Bai Dian Feng (Vitiligo). Donkey Penis strengthens the essence and muscles. Soaking Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) in milk and using the juice to drop into eyes affected by wind-fire redness is beneficial.
Sweet and neutral. Enters the Hand-Taiyin (Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin) and Foot-Jueyin (Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin) meridians. Its function is specifically to clear the Lungs, nourish the Liver, tonify the Kidneys, and nourish Yin. It stops bleeding, removes stasis, dispels wind, resolves phlegm, moistens dryness, calms asthma, benefits the small and large intestines. It treats deficiency consumption cough, lung atrophy with pus expectoration, hematemesis, epistaxis, bloody strangury, bloody hemorrhoids, intestinal wind with dysentery, sore waist and bone pain, blood pain and blood depletion, continuous menstruation, urinary bleeding and lower bleeding during pregnancy. All should be taken with wine. Stir-fried until charred, the gelatin powder is effective. After pediatric convulsions, if the pupil shape is abnormal, taking double the amount of gelatin with Ginseng is very effective. It is contraindicated for weak stomach causing vomiting, spleen deficiency causing indigestion, and cough due to wind-cold. Stir-fried with Ge Fen (Clam Shell Powder) to resolve phlegm; stir-fried with Puhuang (Lygodium Spores) to stop bleeding. Can be used in combination with wine-dissolved, water-dissolved, or Tongbian (Child's Urine). Works well with fire. Shan Yao (Dioscorea Rhizome) acts as an assistant herb. It fears Dahuang (Rhubarb Root).

Its function is specifically to kill parasites and break up masses and accumulations. It treats retrograde vomiting. It can dissolve turtle shell into water. White Horse Milk treats Qing Tui Ya Gan (Blue Leg and Gum Disease) with miraculous efficacy. Horse liver is toxic. Baima Tong refers to horse manure. When combined with Bai Ye (Cypress Leaf), Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), and Ai Ye (Mugwort Leaf), it treats persistent hematemesis.
Acrid and neutral. Enters the Foot-Jueyin Meridian (Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin). Its function is specifically to pursue wind and relieve pain. When combined with Moyao (Myrrh), it treats Li Jie Feng Tong (Periarthritis and Gout). When combined with Rabbit Brain, it can stop diarrhea and slipping. When combined with Mutong (Akebia Stem), it treats numbness of hands and feet. When combined with Ru Xiang (Frankincense), it can induce labor and expel the placenta. For eyes, Zhu Li (Bamboo Sap) is used. Pediatric convulsions, epilepsy, and night crying are cured immediately upon ingestion. Tiger belly should not be washed but calcined to retain its properties. Mixed evenly with one tael of Pingwei San (Peaceful Stomach Powder), three qian per dose treats retrograde vomiting and food regurgitation with miraculous efficacy.
