Originating from the Western Regions, it is unknown what substance composes it. It was brought by foreign merchant ships and sold in markets such as Macau.
It treats metal wounds (injuries caused by metal instruments). Applying this water to the wound causes it to heal immediately as if nothing had happened.
Originating from the Western Regions, brought by merchant ships, its manufacturing process is unknown. Some say it is resin; others say it is plant juice mixed with *Disu Lu* (dew collected from the ground) and sun-dried. Foreign merchants store it in glass bottles, tightly sealed to prevent gas leakage, so that the medicinal potency does not diminish. The odor is extremely pungent and acrid, irritating the brain; it should not be smelled unless one is ill. Islanders suffering from conditions such as Head Wind Disease (headache due to wind pathogen) or Cold Damage Syndrome do not take oral medicine but instead hold the bottle mouth to their nose to inhale the vapor. This induces numbness, trembling, sweating throughout the body, and leads to recovery. It is contraindicated for those with deficiency and weakness. It is suitable for external use only, not for internal consumption. For treating Exogenous Wind-Cold Syndrome, smelling it greatly promotes sweating.
*Xian Shen Yin* records a method for preparing Cinnabar Water: 1 jin of Cinnabar (*Zhusha*), 2 liang of Chalcanthite (*Shidan*), and 4 liang of Niter (*Xiaoshi*). Place them in a small-mouthed porcelain jar, seal the mouth with lacquer. Bury it in the earth for forty-nine days. Take it out and inspect; if it has turned into water, the medicine is ready. If not liquefied, bury it again. Another method: using a bamboo tube is also acceptable.
The taste is bitter. Ingestion prolongs life. It kills spirits/demons, repels evil ghosts, nourishes the spirit, and calms the soul.
*Shen Yin* states: Prepared similarly to Cinnabar Water, but without Chalcanthite, substituting with 2 liang of Mercury (*Gong*). The drug is used for washing the eyes. It can also be ingested.
It stops eye pain,收敛s (astringes) wind-induced tearing. Long-term ingestion makes the body light and prevents aging.
*Dou Xue Zhen Chuan* records a method for preparing White Balsam Apple Paste: Use single-leaf White Balsam Apple flowers (*Baifengxian*). Pick them and fill a jar completely. Seal the mouth with bamboo leaves (*Ru*). Then plaster it with mud and bury it in the soil for twenty to thirty years before use. The flowers in the jar will all transform into water. Remove the sediment/residue; the clear liquid above is the Phoenix Paste. Store separately in porcelain jars for use.
Its nature is very cold. It treats cases where pox/rash have collapsed and become necrotic (burnt appearance), which are otherwise incurable. Adding one teaspoon to the medicine and ingesting it can immediately restore vitality to the necrotic lesions. Do not use excessive amounts for pox. It disperses phlegm, resolves all kinds of Fire-Toxin, and has miraculous effects.
*Jiu Sheng Ku Hai*: After the Frost Descent solar term, select thick and large loofah vines (*Sigua Teng*). Dig up the roots about three to four cun deep, cut them off, and insert them into a bottle overnight. The juice dripping from the roots into the bottle is named Tianluo Water. Seal it tightly and bury it in the earth; the longer it ages, the better.
It treats unilateral or bilateral Erysipelas of the Throat (tonsillitis/parotitis). Drinking one cup results in immediate cure. It also eliminates Phlegm-Fire, transforms phlegm into water, and detoxifies miraculously. It clears internal heat and is particularly effective for treating Lung Abscess (*Fei Yong*) and Lung Flaccidity (*Fei Wei*).
In Xiaoshan, an old woman’s family sold Lung Abscess medicine. Three doses led to immediate recovery. Their door was as busy as a market, and they had passed down this recipe for generations. Wang Shengyu once obtained this prescription and recorded it; it is this very water. It is harvested on the Start of Autumn day and stored in urns. The older it is, the better the effect.
