Treatment for Carbuncle (*Ding*): *Jishi Liangfang* records: Huangfeng Ointment treats carbuncles and heat-toxin sores on the head and face. The formula consists of Realgar (*Xionghuang*) 1 liang, nail rust and flesh of preserved plum (*Baimei Rou*) each 5 qian, and Xiaofeng Powder 1 liang; in summer, add 20 Gui Luosi, grind all together into a fine powder, mix evenly with bitter salt brine, and store in a porcelain jar. For any patient suffering from carbuncle swelling or toxic sores, first pierce the top of the sore with a silver needle, apply this medicine, cover firmly with cotton paper to prevent the toxin from spreading; healing occurs after three days. *Huangshi Yichao* records: Crush small, slender Gui Luosi until soft, and apply including the shell to the affected area to promote pus discharge; swelling subsides the next day.
