Medical texts state that for treating Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst), after recovery, to prevent recurrence of carbuncles, one should pre-prepare Rendong Wine, boil and seal it for consumption, until the Large and Small Intestines are unobstructed, which signifies the medicine has reached the target. This condition involves the removal of Zang-Fu heat, but the heat in the meridians remains. One must use this wine to penetrate and clear it. Moreover, it not only treats carbuncles but also stops thirst. Thus, moving from Zang-Fu to Meridians, and from Meridians to flesh and tissue, this herb indeed possesses comprehensive efficacy. *Ben Cao Jing Bie Lu* states that long-term use lightens the body and prolongs life. Is this entirely false? Rendong, its vine twists to the left, thus belonging to the Liver formula category. The stem color is slightly purple, making it a Blood tonic of the Liver. Blooming in late spring, starting white and turning yellow, it represents a flavor moving from Liver to Lung, and from Lung to Spleen. Therefore, it not only circulates in the meridians but also pervades the flesh and tissue, dispersing heat and toxicity in the Blood level. Mr. Miao used it to treat migraines belonging to Liver Meridian Blood deficiency with heat. Additionally, Rendong flower soaked in wine can facilitate urination/bowel movement for those with Blood heat and dry stool in the Large Intestine, which aligns with the principle of Yi-Geng combination.
Rendong Teng nourishes Blood. It is unsuitable for those with Qi deficiency and excessive Cold.
[Processing] Harvest flowers in April and dry in shade. Harvest vines and leaves at any time.
