Medicine, as an art, aims to explore the source of the clarity and turbidity of heaven and earth, observe the mechanism of the waxing and waning of Yin and Yang, conform to the appropriateness of the four seasons, rely on the efficacy of hundreds of herbs, and treat human diseases. Since Shennong wrote books on metals, stones, and plants, and Huangdi and Qibo compiled the *Neijing Suwen* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon: Basic Questions), this learning has flourished and not been abandoned. Distinguished scholars of later generations, such as Bian Que, Qin Yueren (courtesy name Zi Yang), He, and Huan, their medical skills were so profound that they could hardly be exhausted by words. However, the changes in diseases are infinite, while the prescriptions available to us are limited. To use limited prescriptions to address infinite changes, it is rare for errors not to occur due to slight deviations! Therefore, there must be a distinction between meridians and clinical manifestations, methods of adding or subtracting three to five ingredients, and through divine and enlightened wisdom, we pray for suitable individuals to inherit them. Alas! Is it because famous doctors like Bian Que, He, and Huan are hard to come by in thousands of years, and since life and death from disease often hang in the balance of a breath, that we are compelled to create these prescriptions? From this perspective, any prescription recorded by later physicians, if it has even a single effective result, should not be discarded. My family possesses many collected prescriptions, which I have organized by category. For those with similar ingredients but different therapeutic effects, all are listed in detail, totaling one thousand one hundred and eleven prescriptions. Nowadays, practicing physicians often possess trial prescriptions, hiding them deeply in boxes and not sharing them lightly, hoping for occasional success to mystify their techniques. The prescriptions I have obtained are mostly those kept secret by good physicians. Now, I hope every household will have this book, gathering the strengths of excellent physicians from across the world, to meet sudden emergencies. Is this not the heart of a loving father and filial son? Thus, I had it carved on wood in the commandery study to spread its transmission widely.
