(There are two types.)
Type 1: Initially, there is a sore throat, followed rapidly by obstruction of Qi (vital energy), which can be fatal very quickly. Prick the tip of the upright "tiger ear" (a specific point on the auricle) and along the edge of the auricle with the sharp edge of a porcelain shard until blood flows; this will result in immediate recovery. (Transmitted by Xu Leran.)
Type 2: The patient feels inner restlessness, followed by an inability to speak, lockjaw (trismus), unconsciousness, cold body, and cold sweat. Touching below both cheeks reveals a hard object protruding diagonally that obstructs the finger. Use a bamboo chopstick to pry open the mouth, insert a finger to explore the throat; on both sides, there are lumps the size of wheat grains, either single or paired. Pinch these lumps until they bleed. In early stages, the blood is bright red; in prolonged cases, it is purple. Recovery is immediate. Beforehand, rub the fingertips with salt.
(This condition is common in children.)
Both eyes are red and swollen, nasal discharge flows, and the child cries and wails day and night. Densely prick the Taiyang acupoint (located behind the outer ends of the eyebrows) over an area the size of a fingernail; recovery is immediate. After pricking, mash taro root and apply it as a poultice from the Yintang acupoint to the Shangen area.
The patient does not speak or eat, appearing dull and foolish like a person with dementia. Scrape wood shavings from the curved handle part of a chair, decoct them, and administer orally for recovery.
Upon onset, the hypochondriac regions feel distended and unbearable. Scrape wood shavings from the shoulder-bearing part of a carrying pole, decoct them, and administer orally for recovery.
The hypochondriac region resembles the shape of *Trichosanthes cucumerina* (Wang Gua), accompanied by distending pain. Use a needle to lift from the pharynx, densely lifting/pricking downwards to above the umbilicus, then horizontally across both hypochondria, stopping at the lumbar spine. Healing occurs as one lifts/pricks. Initially, no blood appears; gradually, blood flows. Lifting/pricking to the point corresponding to the head at the lumbar spine results in recovery; otherwise, recurrence leads to untreatable death. (Transmitted by Daoist Ma.)
The symptom is solely upward turning of the eyes (rolling back of the eyes). Moxibustion of three moxa cones (Ai Zhu) at the Baihui acupoint (top of the head); if not recovered, apply three more moxa cones, resulting in recovery.
(Also known as Sha syndrome [sand disease], transmitted by Yue Tingchen of Jufu.)
The symptoms begin with periumbilical pain, gradually spreading to the entire abdomen, followed by Qi stagnation in the chest and hypochondria, fullness and distension of the hypochondria, rushing up to the pharynx, obstruction of Qi flow, and loss of consciousness. Without urgent treatment, death ensues immediately. First, prick the tips of both ears with a needle; next, prick the two bony prominences below the Adam's apple in the suprasternal fossa; then, prick the two bony prominences below the scapulae on the back. Induce bleeding in all sites for immediate recovery.
The symptoms begin with chills followed by fever. The whole body erupts in papules/nodules that are red, purple, or black, gradually enlarging. Accompanied by aversion to cold and fever, failure to treat leads to immediate death. Shenlian San (Ginseng and Coptis Powder) is indicated.
Shenlian San (Ginseng and Coptis Powder)
Ren Shen (Radix Ginseng), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (ground together into fine powder, equal parts)
She Xiang (Moschus), Bing Pian (Borneolum Syntheticum) (small amounts each)
Grind the four ingredients together again, mix with yellow rice wine, and take orally. Externally, decoct Tougu Cao (Phlomidosae Herba) and Huanglong Wei (Scutellariae Barbatae Herba, commonly known as Huanglian Yicao) to wash the affected area.
Liu Songfeng stated: Also known as Purple Papules. Its treatment is completely different from the previously mentioned Geda Wen (Nodule Plague) syndrome.
