The term "Feiqi" (Mass in the Liver) refers to a condition where the pulse or physical sign resembles a bowstring, with a hard mass protruding in the abdomen, visible on the surface of the muscles. The term "Pi" (Hidden Mass) refers to pathogenic factors hidden behind the spine and intestines/stomach. Both conditions are suitable for moxibustion at Xiawan (CV10, Lower Epigastrium), or Zusanli (ST36, Three Miles).
Xiawan (See section on Distension).
Zusanli (See section on Flaccidity Syndrome).
There are seven types of Hernia (Shan): Cold, Water, Qi, Blood, Sinew, Fox, and Jia Hernias. In common parlance, they are collectively referred to as Small Intestine Qi. Zhang Zihe stated that although there are seven types of Hernia Qi, they all essentially involve Liver pathology. For the symptoms of the Seven Hernias, it is advisable to first apply moxibustion to Qihai (CV6, Sea of Qi), followed by Zhongji (CV3, Central Pole), or Sanyinjiao (SP6, Three Yin Intersection). If there is unilateral swelling of the scrotum, applying moxibustion to Dadun (LR1, Great Tower) is effective.
Qihai (See section on Labor Injury).
Zhongji (Four cun below the umbilicus).
Sanyinjiao (See section on Flaccidity Syndrome).
Dadun (See section on Corpse-like Coma).
Fuliang (Trapped Beam) is an accumulation disease of the Heart. It originates above the umbilicus, is as large as an arm, extends upward to below the heart, and over time causes mental restlessness. One should apply moxibustion to Shangwan (CV13, Upper Epigastrium), or Zhongwan (CV12, Middle Epigastrium) to stabilize the condition.
Shangwan (See section on Labor Injury).
Zhongwan (See section on Panting/Cough).
Ben Tun (Running Piglet) is an accumulation disease of the Kidney. It arises in the lower abdomen and rushes up to the heart, resembling the running motion of a piglet. It occurs irregularly; over time, it leads to panting and rebellious Qi, bone flaccidity, and shortness of breath. It is best to first apply moxibustion to Qihai (CV6, Sea of Qi), combined with Zhongji (CV3, Central Pole).
Qihai (See section on Labor Injury).
Zhongji (See section on Hernia).
Xianggangjiao (Foot Qi / Beriberi) presents with edema and heaviness in both legs, which is Wet Xianggangjiao. If there is pain without redness or swelling, it is Dry Xianggangjiao. Regardless of whether it is wet or dry, Fengshi (GB31, Wind Market) is suitable for moxibustion. If there is redness and swelling accompanied by difficulty walking, applying moxibustion to Dadun (LR1, Great Tower) can lead to recovery.
Fengshi (See section on Stroke).
Dadun (See section on Corpse-like Coma).
Abdominal Borborygmus refers to rumbling sounds within the abdomen. If caused by Phlegm-Fluid retention, apply moxibustion to Shangwan (CV13, Upper Epigastrium). If caused by Stomach Cold leading to intestinal rumbling, apply moxibustion to Weishu (BL21, Stomach Shu), or Zusanli (ST36, Three Miles).
Shangwan (See section on Labor Injury).
Weishu (See section on Distension).
Zusanli (See section on Flaccidity Syndrome).
The causes of Ye Ge (Dysphagia and Chest Obstruction) fall into five categories: Qi Stagnation, Blood Stasis, Fire Blazing, Phlegm Coagulation, and Food Retention. Although divided into five types, they all fundamentally belong to transformations caused by the Seven Emotions (Joy, Anger, Worry, Pensive thought, Grief, Fear, Fright). When medicinal herbs fail to produce effects, it is essential to apply moxibustion to Tiantu (CV22, Heavenly Promontory) in the upper region, Zhongwan (CV12, Middle Epigastrium) in the middle region, and Zusanli (ST36, Three Miles) in the lower region.
Tiantu, Zhongwan (See section on Panting/Cough).
Zusanli (See section on Flaccidity Syndrome).
