（想要检验的方法：一斤磁石如果四面都能吸住一斤铁，这叫“延年沙”；四面只能吸住八两铁的，叫“续末石”；四面只能吸住五两以下的，叫“磁石”。炮制一斤磁石，需用五花皮一镒、地榆一镒、旧绵十五两，三件药材一起切碎，用槌子在石头上砸碎成二三十块。将磁石放入瓷瓶中，加入草药，用东流水煮三天三夜，然后滤出擦干，用布包裹，再在大石头上反复捶打使其变细，最后放入乳钵中研细如尘，用水沉飞研过后，再研成粉使用。以柴胡为使药。能杀铁毒，消金（金属毒物）。恶牡丹、莽草。畏黄石脂。能伏丹砂，养汞，去除锅晕。）
(When using one jin of Mercury (Shuiyin, 水银), use two liang each of Alum (Mingfan, 明矾), Saltpeter (Yanxiao, 焰硝), Green Vitriol (Zaofan, 皂矾), and Salt (Yanshi, 食盐). Calomel (Qingfen, 轻粉) will sublime and adhere to the inner wall of the upper basin. Sweep it down with a goose feather for use. This is true Calomel, which has an immediate effect in generating flesh. The market often adulterates it with Halloysitum Rubrum (Han Shui Shi, 寒水石), Argentite (Yinmu Shi, 银母石), and Gypsum Fibrosum; how can there be genuine ones? Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 黄连), Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma (Tufuling, 土茯苓), aged soybean paste (Chenjiang, 陈酱), Black Lead (Qian, 黑铅), and Iron Slag (Tiejiang, 铁浆) can mitigate its toxicity.)

(To test: If one jin of Magnetite (Cishi, 磁石) attracts one jin of iron on all four sides, it is called "Longevity Sand" (Yannian Sha, 延年沙); if it attracts eight liang, it is called "Continuing End Stone" (Xu Mo Shi, 续末石); if it attracts less than five liang, it is called Magnetite (Cishi, 磁石). To process one jin of Magnetite, use one yi of Periploca Sepium Cortex (Wuhua Pi, 五花皮), one yi of Sanguisorba Officinalis Radix (Diyu, 地榆), and fifteen liang of old cotton. Cut these three ingredients finely, crush them into 20-30 pieces by pounding on a stone. Finally, put into a mortar, grind to dust, wet-grind with water, settle, and grind into powder for use. Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 柴胡) serves as an assistant. Can subdue Cinnabar (Dansha, 丹砂), nourish Mercury (Hong, 汞), and remove pot stains.)
