Commentary: This belongs to the Taiyang category. However, the Spleen belongs to Taiyin and the Kidney to Shaoyin; since Yin qi is already deficient, it cannot transform fluids. Therefore, these drugs may be theoretically inappropriate. But if the disease is caused by cold-dampness affecting the Spleen and Kidney, they can be used. Thus, the aforementioned formulas are classified under drying dampness to avoid inconsistency between name and reality. Regarding the previously mentioned "Shenxie" (seeping and draining): "Shen" refers to benefiting the hair follicles (pores), and "Xie" refers to benefiting the water passages.
